WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 11 of My Next Life as a Villainess, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Episode 11 of My Next Life as a Villainess finds Katarina Claes continuing the hunt for her missing foster brother Keith. She and Maria discover at the last moment that dark magic is involved -- the same wicked magic Raphael Walt had used in the guise of Sirius Dieke. Time is quickly running out for the captured Keith.

Katarina and her crew arrive at an eerie manor enveloped in dark magic and find Keith inside, but his discovery prompts more questions than answers. Along this road of mysteries, Katarina also makes a new friend -- one usually associated with villains.

Katarina and her allies opt to break into the mansion and rescue Keith right away. They first meet Thomas Coleman, Keith's bitter half-brother who had taken part in Keith's kidnapping. Thomas gives a skewed account of the brothers' past, making it clear he will blame anyone except himself for his poor studies and terrible attitude toward others, then passes out. He had aimed to take Keith down to punish him for being a duke's foster son, but his female compatriot is nowhere to be seen. Katarina moves on and finds Keith, lying in the middle of dark magic arrays.

The magic holds Keith prisoner in his own mind until Katarina breaks him free, tearing off the dark magic snakes covering his body. A grateful Keith awakens and kisses her on the mouth, thinking he's dreaming. Nearby, one of the shadow snakes melts into a magic puddle and reforms into a puppy. It's completely loyal to Katarina, and even the kidnapper girl -- who finally arrives at the last moment -- cannot explain how Katarina has earned a dark magic familiar as a pet. The girl abandons her dark experiments and vanishes.

Katarina feels overjoyed to bring her brother back home and enjoys the company of her new dark magic dog, now named Spot. Keith, still recovering, reaffirms his intense love for his dear foster sister who has always looked out for him, and tells her directly that he loves her completely. Geordo arrives and claims Katarina for himself, and the other friends arrive and argue that Katarina belongs to all of them -- and thus none of them. Despite recent events in My Next Life as a Villainess, there is not yet a clear winner in the harem race for Katarina's heart -- though Keith wins a victory within himself for finding the courage and resolve to declare his love to Katarina openly. The competitive feelings from the school play early in Season 2 still fester among the friends.

However, Katarina gets no answers about who the shadowy girl is or why she wanted to conduct so many experiments on Keith. And no one can explain how Katarina gained her affinity for dark magic beings such as Spot, since her actual magical element is earth. Everything returns to normal for Katarina but more unanswered questions than ever hang in the air, proving her otome game life is anything but smooth sailing in the post-doom flag era as My Next Life as a Villainess continues.
