In romance anime, it is a common trope in which couples don't actually end up with one another. Whether it be due to the anime cutting off before the manga's end, like in Ao Haru Ride, or the manga and anime simply ending with the couple continuing their game of cat and mouse, like with The Wallflower, it is quite common for couples in anime and shojo to not end up with one another.

It is also common in anime that the couple doesn't officially get together before it just jumps to them being married, like in Naruto, with very little to showcase their confessions or time spent as a couple. My Love Story is an adorable shojo anime featuring two very unlikely characters. Takeo Gouda is not the typical shojo male lead, he is huge and has the appearance fitting that more of an anime antagonist than a shojo love interest. He has his heart eyes set on Rinko Yamato, who is small and utterly adorable.

Rink falls for Takeo's chivalrous nature and finds him to be utterly sweet, developing a romance and relationship between the two. This couple is super adorable and probably one of the most loved shojo couples in anime history.

While Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is actually a sci-fi series, it frames itself at the beginning as if it were a shojo before falling into magical realism. Sakuta Azusagawa pretty much instantly falls for Mei Sakurajima when he sees her, and once he realizes he is the only person who sees her, he tries everything in his power to help her.

Sakuta makes his feelings for Mei known and though she feels wary at first, she eventually confesses her feelings in return, and the two end up dating one another.

Say "I Love You" is another shojo anime that features a romance that is often considered the pinnacle of shojo romances. Tachibana Mei is a bit of an outcast and rather quiet and shy. But even with her personality, she seems to make quite the impression on the most popular and handsome boy at her school, Yamato Kurosawa.

Kurosawa falls for Mei rather quickly due to the fact that she is always real when she is around him, and after being so used to the fake girls who fawn over him, Kurosawa feels like this is a much-needed break. This story features two high school students that are forced to live with one another. The two end up falling for each other and the series shows the ups and downs of their growing relationship throughout high school and college.

5 Wolf Girl & Black Prince

Wolf Girl and Black Prince is a shojo anime that has seemed to become a classic. The two begin by enacting the typical but lovable trope of fake dating. But over time, their fake relationship turns into feelings on both ends, leaving both people unsure how to approach their new-found emotions.

The two end up becoming official not too soon after and deal with all the hurdles that they go through together. They struggle with rivals, misunderstanding, jealousy, and any other typical drama one might find in a shojo, but they manage to make it out and still be totally in love.

The main couple in Clannad, who also happen to be the main two characters of the series, end up getting married. Yusuke and Kouko begin to make arrangements to be married along with Kouko's sister, Fuko. But in perfect Clannad fashion, Fuko ends up in a coma in the hospital that leaves her spirit to wander around.

Because she is still so determined to see the couple successfully marry, her spirit still manages to help them plan and execute the wedding. There is also Clannad: After Story that shows the couple's post-graduation and how they are living their life together.

Toradora! holds one of the most popular shojo anime couples. When the series began, Ryuji and Taiga formed an alliance to get their two crushes to notice them. The two had rather conflicting personalities as one was tall and gentle, while the other was short and feisty.

But over time, their feelings began to shift, changing from the crushes they had on their two friends to falling for each other. By the end of the series, the two confessed to one another and decided to elope so that they could be together.

At the end of the series, the two actually get married in a super adorable wedding ceremony that is private and reserved for their closest friends. Chise and Elias are a rather popular anime couple.

Sailor Moon hosts one of the most iconic romances throughout anime history, the romance between Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. Usagi and Mamoru started off hating each other, finding the other super annoying. But in their superhero alter-egos, the two developed a lot of feelings for each other.

It was also revealed that they were totally in love before they lost all their memories and were sent to earth. The two dated throughout the series and had a ton of ups and downs, but stuck it out until the end.
