My Hero Academia imagines a bold future where almost everyone is gifted with supernatural Quirks, and costumed pro heroes use their Quirks, gadgets, and physical combat skills to keep the streets safe from crime and villainy every day. Pro heroes are beloved for their selfless courage, their cool personas, and much more, such as the legendary All Might and the popular winged hero Hawks.

Not every pro hero is an Avengers-worthy crimefighter, though. Inevitably, some pro heroes will be much weaker, more boring, or less pleasant than others, and this lowers their stock in the eyes of most My Hero Academia fans. The worst pro heroes are generally the weakest, the most forgettable, or annoying of them all. At the very least, they don't have an impressive combat record to their name.

10 Gunhead Is Kind Of Cool But Still Forgettable

gunhead throwing a punch in my hero academia

The pro hero Gunhead isn't exactly a terrible pro hero or character, but he still ranks low among My Hero Academia's characters when all factors are considered. On the plus side, he has a charming and surprisingly cute personality, such as when he gently teased Ochaco Uraraka. That makes him a "gap moe" character.

Otherwise, though, Gunhead doesn't have much to offer. He has a generic "bad boy" costume and no real backstory, and his Quirk is so boring that the anime didn't even bother to show it. He did little more than teach Ochaco how to deal with the knife-wielding Himiko Toga.

9 Snipe Is Simply A Gunslinger

Snipe ready to attack in My Hero Academia.

Snipe is a gunslinger pro hero with a cowboy theme, which should appeal to some My Hero Academia fans, especially if he reminds them of Vash the Stampede. Snipe is also a teacher at UA, which is his single best point. Otherwise, he's not so great.

Snipe can use his Quirk to guide bullets, similar to Guido Mista in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but that's nothing special by My Hero Academia standards. He also has a forgettable personality and no special dialogue or heroic moments, which his somewhat spiffy costume doesn't make up for.

8 Power Loader Never Did Anything Interesting

Another UA teacher, Power Loader also ranks fairly low among pro heroes, even if he's not a terrible character by any means. He is a short and slender fellow in his early 40s whose costume echoes the power loader suit seen in 1986's Aliens, since My Hero Academia is all about pop culture references.

Power Loader can use his Quirk and costume to dig into the earth, but he never impressed viewers with that fighting style, and he never said or did anything memorable, either. And his costume looks rather silly and impractical, too. He even leaves his chest exposed to enemy Quirks if he's not underground already.

7 Rock Lock Keeps Doubting People

Rock Lock from mha

Rock Lock appeared in Season 4, right before the assault on the villain Overhaul's lair. Rock Lock has a lock-based Quirk that can secure an item in midair, and he can use these locked items as stairs or barriers. Those items can only be moved if sufficient force is used, and that's no mean feat.

This might remind JoJo's fans of the minor villain Sale and his Kraftwerk Stand, but Rock Lock lacks Sale's ingenuity in battle, and he never accomplished much against Overhaul's crime family. Worst of all, he has a grouchy and standoffish attitude, and he doubted Izuku and the other student heroes at first.

6 Death Arms Is Nothing Special

Death Arms is a brawny and rather tall pro hero, and he has appeared now and then in the story of My Hero Academia. However, there's not much to like about him. He is liable to scold Izuku and the other student heroes without showing much support, and he's not much of a role model, either.

As a fighter, Death Arms is forgettable and unremarkable, and the same is true of his hero costume. He is also seen smoking cigarettes, which some fans think makes him a bad role model.

5 Hound Dog Is Funny But Underwhelming

My Hero Academia Hound Dog

On the plus side, the pro hero Hound Dog serves as the lifestyle guidance counselor at UA, so he can do some good for the students. As a pro hero, though, he is little more than a running gag, and it takes more than jokes to defeat the League of Villains.

Hound Dog is really just a gag character as a dog-man who has a habit of going wild and howling when he's trying to talk, which gets old fast. And like the other low-tier pro heroes, he has no heroic moments or memorable dialogue to strengthen his case as a hero. He's a pretty disposable character overall.

4 Manual Is Nice But Doesn't Do Much

manual the hero in my hero academia

The pro hero known as Manual is a friendly and polite young man who seems to have made friends with Tenya Iida the runner hero, who is not bad at all. Then again, like other low-tier heroes, Manual is unremarkable and has an underwhelming Quirk, and contributes little to the story.

RELATED: My Hero Academia: 10 Pro Heroes, Ranked by Maturity

Manual is ranked #222 among pro heroes, and it's easy to see why. He has an underwhelming water-based Quirk, a simple hero costume, and little else. He has no cool dialogue or heroic moments to his name either, and that is unlikely to change in the future, either.

3 Lunch Rush Simply Serves Lunch

lunch rush from my hero

American My Hero Academia fans are used to seeing "lunch ladies" at public school, and My Hero Academia reinvents that concept with a masked pro hero with a chef's hat and jacket. Little is known of Lunch Rush aside from his expertise in cooking and his fairly upbeat attitude.

That's fine in its own right, but it means practically nothing in the long run. Lunch Rush has a whopping one line of dialogue to his name, and it's unknown if he's even capable of defeating low-level villains at all. A forgettable background character does not make for a great pro hero.

2 Fourth Kind Is So Grouchy

Chivalrous hero fourth kind my hero academia

The four-armed pro hero known as Fourth Kind is an odd one. Based on his tough-guy attitude, the gold rings on his fingers, and his fancy gentleman's suit, he looks more like a My Hero Academia take on The Godfather, though he is a genuine hero all the same.

Fourth King utterly fails to impress. Having four arms means little against the League of Villains, and his strict and short-tempered personality is an unpleasant one, to say the least. He also did very little fighting in the series. In fact, his only action scene involved picking up trash.

1 Native Seems Weak & Has A Questionable Costume

My Hero Academia Native gravely injured.

The pro hero known as Native appeared during the intense battle against Stain the hero killer, and he was grateful when Izuku, Shoto, and Tenya saved his life against that sword-slinging villain. He's a fairly nice guy, but otherwise, this character is a real problem, and not just because he was the chump of the Stain battle arc.

Native's name and hero costume are just begging for controversy, as the depiction of Native Americans in media is a tricky and contentious subject, to put it mildly. It's generally not a good idea to borrow Native imagery or themes without a proper reason, and it's unclear whether the character Native is actually an American Native, Japanese, or something else. Given the chance, My Hero Academia should simply rewrite this character or omit him.
