There are plentiful fan theories in My Hero Academia about the possibility of one of the students or teachers in U.A. being a traitor to Class 1-A for the League of Villains. The idea was presented by Present Mic and actually hasn't really been mentioned again, but that hasn't stopped fans from making tons of fan theories.

Pretty much every character has been suspected for one reason or another. Even the lead three Academia boys, Midoriya, Bakugo, and Todoroki, were considered at one point. But with so little information and so little focus on the actual traitor, the best any fan can do for now is to simply guess.

10 Kohei Horikoshi Forgot

Class 1-A manga

One of the big theories of the U.A. traitor is a rather simple idea. The theory is that Kohei Horikoshi simply forgot about that subplot altogether. Apparently, Horikoshi has even mentioned that he totally forgot about the subplot on two separate occasions. This could be one of the main reasons fans have had such little insight on the traitor overall. This could actually be a good thing for the fandom. If Horikoshi forgets of the subplot, fans won't get the chance to be given so many clues, making the grand reveal even bigger once (and if) it comes to fruition.

9 Monoma Nieto

Monoma Nieto My Hero Academia

The idea of Monoma Nieto being the traitor seems extremely predictable due to his quirk and strange disdain for class 1-A, as though this idea were too good to be true. Of course, fans have assumed that he is the traitor, but if anything Monoma seems more like a red herring than anything else. For starters, he isn't actually in class 1-A, so while he can report back to the League, he wouldn't have as much information as the other suspects would.

8 Himiko Toga

Himiko Toga From My Hero Academia

Toga is another usual suspect due to her quirk that allows her to take the shape of anyone whose blood she possesses. The theory is that Toga has been pretending to be a student at U.A. the entire time. However, considering Midoriya found her out pretty quickly when she pretended to be Uraraka, it kind of implies that Toga may have the ability to appear like anyone else, but she cannot act like anyone else.

The fact that she was at the license exam in the first place also shows that she cannot be anyone in 1-A, since she cannot be two people at the same time.

7 Denki Kaminari

A common theory amongst My Hero Academia fans is the idea that Kaminari is the traitor of U.A.. Many fans of the series really like Kaminari so they'll feel the sting of betrayal if he were to be the traitor, especially because of his relationships with the rest of 1-A, particularly Bakugo and Jiro. Fans believe that Kaminari may be acting dumb but really is a lot more sinister and intelligent than he lets on. This twist would be pretty extreme.

6 Toru Hagakure

Another popular theory is the idea of a character that is, literally, hidden in plain sight. Toru (Invisible Girl) is another of the most popularly accused in the U.A. Traitor fan theories. She is invisible so that means she can be anywhere at any time and the class wouldn't even know it. This theory has a few flaws, though.

Firstly, Toru isn't the first character with an invisibility quirk, which means that there are probably precautions in place to avoid and detect her quirk. This theory is also a bit lackluster, the series hasn't really made Toru the most lovable of characters as she gets probably the least amount of dialogue and screentime, regardless of whether she is invisible or not. Toru being the traitor would have little to no effect on the audience as no one really feels all that connected to her.

5 Minoru Mineta

The idea of Mineta being the traitor is more of a hope than a theory. Fans are extremely divided about their interest in Mineta, they either love him or hate him, with no real space between. Some fans are more than hoping he is the traitor just to justify all his sleazy antics and strange personality. But it also incredibly unlikely Mineta is actually the traitor, or anything more than just the strange comic relief of class 1-A. Plus it is unlikely Mineta would betray all of his crushes in class like that.

4 Yuga Aoyama

Aoyama was another suspect on the list for a while, even Midoriya thought he may be. Aoyama seems to know everything about everyone. He knew Uraraka had a crush on Midoriya before she even admitted it to herself, and knew about Midoriya's quirk pretty well. This implies that Aoyama is always watching his classmates of 1-A more than he lets on. However, Aoyama seems more and more innocent as the show progresses. He became pretty close to Midoriya and explained that he just wants more friends. This, of course, maybe a distraction, but it's looking like he is innocent.

3 Ochako Uraraka

One of the most extreme theories that most likely will not occur due to how shonen anime typically works is that Uraraka is the traitor of 1-A. Ochako is not only one of Izuku's closest friends and allies, she also is the closest thing to a love interest within the series. Uraraka is the first person Deku saved with his powers and ultimately what got him into U.A. in the first place.

The two have a great relationship with another and are constantly supporting each other, along with their other closest friend, Iida. But many fans have pointed out that the idea of Uraraka being the traitor is possible due to her financial situation. She wants to be a hero for money so that she can help support her family. But who is to say she wouldn't just as easily be a villain for the same reasons?

2 Momo Yaoyorozu

Momo From My Hero Academia

A popular theory that had been spread around on Reddit was the idea that Yaoyorozu may be the traitor. The Reddit user originally made a large post explaining why every other suspect was unlikely and had a list of highly potential candidates and why none of them were the actual traitor. All except for Yaomomo. The original post explained that they were planning on making a part two to the theory, in order to explain why Yaomomo would be the perfect suspect but never went through with it, leaving many fans and followers of the subreddit waiting in suspense. Yaomomo being the traitor would be pretty painful as she is a fan-favorite character and extremely close to many of the students in class 1-A.

1 There Is No Traitor

My Hero Academia Class 1-A Christmas Party

The idea of there not being an actual traitor stems back to the fact that Horikoshi totally forgot about the traitor subplot and that it hasn't really been mentioned in a while. So another possible theory is that there actually is no traitor. After all, it was an idea suggested by Present Mic on one occasion and didn't really have much evidence other than the fact that the League seemed to always know what was going on. But maybe they gather their intel in another manner, and perhaps the reason Horikoshi keeps forgetting about the traitor subplot is because there is no actual traitor involved.
