Kohei Horikoshi is an unapologetic fan of comics and movies and constantly shows it through his manga My Hero Academia. He happens to have a particular interest in the Marvel superhero Spider-Man and makes constant references to him. One way this love for Spider-Man manifests is in all the "web-slinging" Quirks in the story.

MHA is full of characters who can do some form of his favorite wallcrawler's patented web-slinging technique. There may not be any characters who shoot actual webs, but many of them can send something out, latch it to something big, and either swing from or slingshot off of it. Or they can just hang from it. In any case, here's a look at all of the different characters who can web-sling.

Which MHA Characters Are Capable of Web-Slinging?

Kamui Woods is one of the first characters in MHA to show off a variation of web-slinging. His Quirk Arbor allows him to extend pliant wood out from himself and wrap it around nearby objects for swinging. This, combined with his fighting style, causes him to commonly be associated with Spider-Man by the fans.

The most common web-slinger in MHA is its main character Deku. Thanks to the Black Whip Quirk he got from One For All's fifth user, he can extend tendrils out from his body and use them to grab things from afar. These tendrils even have some elastic properties that make them ideal for Deku to fling himself to his next destination. Some will say Black Whip makes him look more like Venom, but either association works.

Eraserhead and his apprentice Hitoshi Shinsō can also web-sling with their Binding Cloths. These Capturing Weapons are usually wrapped around opponents, but they can also be used on nearby poles or tree branches to swing around. These two have even been shown hanging upside down by their Cloth just as Spider-Man famously does with his threads.

Hanta Sero's Tape Quirk is about the closest thing in MHA to Spider-Man's webs next to Black Whip. It doesn't have nearly the same elasticity or versatility as Black Whip, but it does stick to whatever it touches and Sero often uses it to swing around. He even gave Deku some advice on how to use Black Whip based on his experiences with Tape. He also shoots tape out of his elbows just as Spider-Man would shoot webbing out of his wrists.

These are just the ones who have been shown web-slinging. There are still plenty of characters who can theoretically use the technique with their Quirks; Tsuyu Asui, Best Jeanist, Ibara Shiozaki, Mezō Shōji, Momo Yaoyorozu, Fumikage Toloyami, and the list goes on. If the thought ever crossed Horikoshi's mind, he would probably jump at the opportunity to draw one of these characters hanging or swinging off of something like Spider-Man.

This is the nature of Horikoshi's love for Spider-Man. It's present throughout his manga wherever he can find a place for it; giving different characters the ability to web-sling is just part of it. All that's missing is a scene of Deku sharing an upside-down kiss with Uraraka.
