The world of My Hero Academia has moral nuances that make it fascinating to many of its viewers. Unlike early iterations of storytelling between awesome heroes and cackling villains, some antagonists are relatable, even becoming evil completely out of circumstance rather than ambition.

It isn't to imply there is a shortage of authentic villainy; unfortunately for the heroes, there is plenty to go around. However, a distinction must be made between those who can be redeemed and those who are incorrigibly wicked. By doing so, we might gauge unlikely allies in the future of the anime.

10 Evil - Toga

Himiko Toga from My Hero Academia

Toga may have considered herself one of Stain's followers (an ideology which is noble in theory), though she has displayed much more interest in hurting others than bettering the world around her.

She justifies this on account of her quirk's peculiarity since it's difficult to call someone who drinks their opponent's blood a hero, though she has shown no effort or interest in joining the protagonists. Toga is demented arguably beyond repair, using the League of Villains as a chance to slake her thirst.

9 Redeemable - Stain

Stain MHA

Stain's ideology is not one centered around personal ambition or a desire to dominate. He wants to make the world a better, more honest place, erroneously justifying that violence is the most appropriate tool to enact expedient change.

Should cooler heads prevail, it's possible that Stain could join the heroes against the swelling villain forces. This becomes especially likely if All Might visits Stain in prison, as the blood-curdling villain is a known admirer of what Toshinori stands for. It would be an excellent way for the Symbol of Peace to support the heroes without plunging headfirst into battle.

8 Evil - Moonfish

Moonfish from mha

Moonfish shares many of the character flaws Himiko Toga does, albeit exacerbated. He was a mass-murdering psychopath with an insatiable thirst for death, explaining the straight jacket he wears along with his horrifying appearance.

Further, the villain does not purport to serve any greater cause, nor does he need to drink blood to actually exercise his quirk. Moonfish is an embodiment of unmitigated evil, one unlikely to turn even from the most heartfelt and compelling console. His derangement renders him a particularly lethal force in the League of Villains' vanguard.

7 Redeemable - La Brava

la brava filming with her phone on a rooftop form my hero academia.

La Brava's villainy is much more tamed than many of the other threats Izuku Midoriya has faced, though she is nonetheless a criminal. The woman has proved instrumental to Gentle Criminal's plans in infiltrating U.A High, a scheme that would destroy its reputation forever if successful.

However, La Brava herself is not evil. She is merely infatuated with Gentle Criminal's plans and wants him to succeed on account of how he has enriched her life. Should he be given a plea deal to serve as a pro hero, she would definitely join those the couple once fought, providing valuable tech skills to compliment the team.

6 Evil - High-End

High-end nomu

Surprisingly, it isn't technically impossible for High-End to become a hero (his death notwithstanding). The nomu has shown intelligence enough to read emotions, make tactical decisions, and even speak, evincing that he is more than just a blind tool of destruction.

However, High-End is not interested in concepts like justice or protecting the weak. From what we have seen of him, he was born to and is exclusively interested in fighting the strongest heroes and ripping them to shreds. In the absence of a worthy opponent, he will turn his quirks on anyone nearby.

5 Redeemable - Twice

Twice my hero academia

Unlike many of the League's other members, Twice did not join out of ambition, convenience, or an opportunity to kill without retribution. Above all, he wanted companionship and someone to understand him. In the League, he felt necessary and appreciated, happily obliging his services in exchange for a place to belong.

Nonetheless, everything Twice covets and more could be found with the heroes. Through pledging fealty to them, he would not only find the respect he deserves, but he also would not be used as a pawn in All For One's grander machinations.

4 Evil - Shigaraki

Shigaraki season four MHA

Shigaraki is unique in the sense that while he may have a tragic backstory, he is nonetheless disinterested in redeeming himself. Since the beginning, he has displayed a fixation with vanquishing All Might and his pupils, one ingrained into him by his mentor, All For One.

Tomura's inability to be redeemed stems from his cultivated hatred for hero society. Though he may be the grandson of Toshinori's mentor, he does not share her benevolence and is not even notably fond of the members of his own organization.

3 Redeemable - Overhaul

Overhaul before getting defeated by Shigaraki in My Hero Academia.

Overhaul may be one of the most insidious criminals to ever have crossed Deku's path, having tortured children and slain Sir Nighteye. However, the cause for his redemption would not be from a place of remorse ~ it would be of a desire for revenge.

Shigaraki has taken everything from Chisaki, from betraying his trust to destroying his hands. With Kai's hubris proven time and again, it stands to reason he would want to avenge this slight and assist the heroes however he could to do so. Still, this does not necessitate the heroes would trust him.

2 Evil - All For One

all for one

The mastermind behind the League of Villains and that one responsible for grooming Shigaraki, All For One's likelihood of becoming a hero parallels All Might's potential for villainy. He himself has constructed an identity as "the Symbol of Evil," relishing the malice he receives rather than retreating from it.

Even after his kidnapping and imprisonment, All For One has shown no signs of remorse. He waits patiently as the restlessness in the world above him slowly exacerbates, ushering in his disciples' rise and their inevitable dominion of society.

1 Redeemable - Gentle Criminal

Gentle Criminal sad in MHA

In an ideal world, Gentle Criminal would have started as a hero in the first place. He only fell short after an unfortunate event where he endangered someone's life instead of saving it.

Should he be given the opportunity, he would inexorably work to fulfill his dream of becoming a hero and undo the harm his public stunts have caused. From the fight he gave Izuku Midoriya, he would be a potent force among the ranks of the pros, providing a quirk unlike anything they have so far and demonstrating that those who try can be redeemed.
