The hit anime and manga series, My Hero Academia has been at the top of the charts along with other great modern shonen series everyone should be reading for quite some time now. As of now, it seems as if the series is soon reaching a conclusion much to the dismay of fans everywhere.

While the series is loved by many, it isn't without its flaws, which it has many of. However, funny enough the prequel series of My Hero AcademiaMy Hero Academia: Vigilantes fixes many of these mistakes and does plenty of other things flat out better than its predecessor sequel.

10 My Hero Vigilantes Has Better Storytelling

The storytelling of My Heroes Vigilantes feels a lot more rounded and more complete than that of My Hero Academia thanks to the writing of the series writer, Furuhashi Hideyuki.

A part of this is the way that the Vigilantes story progresses and actively shows characters growing with well-done pacing, which can't be said for a bit of My Hero Academia.

9 The World Scope Feels Bigger

Along with this better-done storytelling comes the scope of the world being done a lot better than the original series for reasons related to the story itself.

While the characters of My Hero Academia are written around their school U.A. High School, those in Vigilantes are like the heroes of Marvel Comics, traversing the city on a daily basis.

8 There Is Much More Worldbuilding

Connecting to the previous point, the city traversing of a wider scoped world and showing off of more locations such as an illegal quirk wrestling arena make for more showing of the world.

This puts My Hero Academia: Vigilantes in a place where readers are given a lot more worldbuilding, which makes for a much more interesting world surrounding the heroes and villains.

7 It Feels More Like A Main Series

Another funny comparison between the Academia and Vigilante series is that the ladder feels a lot more like the main series when connected to the actual main series.

While the main series deals with a lot of stakes later on, Vigilantes immediately makes it known that fans will be seeing a lot of groundbreaking moments that mold the world into what it is in Academia now.

6 The Characters Being Nerfed Makes It More Entertaining

In My Hero Academia, fans follow a group of the most elite quirk-powered students there are, immediately letting them know that the only growth needed is the mastering of their powers.

In Vigilantes the main characters are given much weaker quirks and even no quirks at all, meaning that they must be more creative and think more on their toes to survive and win.

5 The Heroes Being Illegal Makes It More Fun

Another difference between the heroes of the main My Hero series and this spin-off is the fact that the spin-off's characters are actually illegal heroes.

The heroes being on their own with no help on the outside makes things a lot more interesting. It's fun watching them try to do good while avoiding attention from actual heroes.

4 The Message Feels A Lot More Genuine

The heroes have no one on their side with little to no powers, which resulted in U.A. High School turning them away, making the message of the series more genuine.

Everyone knows that the message of the series is that, "You can do anything no matter what anyone says." That message is really made mute by the fact that Deku is immediately given an OP power up.

3 The Female Character Is Taken Care Of Better

A huge criticism that My Hero Academia is given is the belief that the mangaka behind the series, Kohei Horikoshi, isn't the best at writing the women of the series, often bringing them around then throwing them to the side.

The main female character of My Hero Vigilantes, Kazuho Haneyama, AKA Pop Step, is handled a lot better, having as much importance and storytelling care as the other two main characters.

2 The Characters Aren't As One-Note & Annoying

When it comes to characters in the My Hero Vigilantes, the main trio also isn't as annoying as two of the face characters of the original, Deku and Bakugo.

While both these characters grow, for a long time they're stuck on the same note and many viewers and readers of the series are simply annoyed by them.

1 The Lack Of A Given Power Up Helps The Protagonist

One of the reasons the main character of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Koichi Haimawari trumps Deku and Bakugou is because he has no crazy power-up or great quirk to help him easily grow.

His story really feels like one filled with hard work in order to attain his goal instead of him having or being given a great quirk. The fact that his quirk doesn't amount to much without his great mind and love of heroes makes him a better protagonist than Deku, and it makes one wonder why Deku wasn't given a weaker quirk like the writer originally intended.
