All Might using his ultimate move, United States of Smash, while fighting All For One is one of the most exciting moments of My Hero Academia's third season. Actually, it was probably one of the most exciting moments in the entire series.

All For One and One For All are two powers that seem to explicitly exist to fight against each other, and this battle was the culmination of the conflict between these two characters, as well as the opportunity to see just how powerful All Might could really be when he put his mind to it, along with being a pretty good blueprint for the potential Deku has while training to learn to master it. Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about this amazing move.

10 It’s A Super Move

Each superhero probably has, or at least should have, at least one move that is completely unique to them and to the quirk that they possess, something that is super powerful and difficult for an opponent to get up after being hit with. It’s not unlike a finishing move in wrestling, which is meant to put someone down and not have them get back up. United States of Smash is one of several super moves that All Might possesses, and it is without a doubt the most powerful one.

9 Combines The Power Of Other Smashes

Most of All Might’s moves are smash moves, which essentially means he uses them to hit people really hard... All Might isn't exactly the most creative guy.

He has 10 of these smash moves in all, and nine of them are named after individual states in the U.S, and each of them has a different flavor that works specifically in different situations. So, it makes sense that the most powerful one, which combines the power of all of the others, is called the United States of Smash.

8 Can Only Be Used Once

United States of Smash is definitely one of those moves that All Might had to hold out on using until he came up against an enemy that he couldn’t defeat otherwise. It makes sense that this enemy was All For One, considering how their powers work and relate to each other. It is such a powerful move that it completely drained all the energy from his body and essentially sapped his ability to tap into the One For All quirk.

7 Used Up The Rest Of One For All

Because of the nature of One For All, All Might no longer had the endless reserves of power from the quirk that he did before giving the quirk to Deku.

That means that, each time he used the quirk to gain power or to participate in battles, he ended up depleting the embers of the quirk a little more. United States of Smash is such a powerful move that he was unable to use the quirk in the same way after that and therefore could no longer fight in battles.

6 Wind Pressure

The actual force of the smash must have been pretty incredible. The smash itself dealt a lot of damage to All For One, who was the target, but it also caused a lot of collateral damage to the area around them.

The pressure from the punch left a huge crater in the ground around All For One. On top of that, the wind pressure that came off the punch was so strong that a tornado actually started up because of it.

5 Temporarily Healed All Might’s Broken Arm

United States of Smash required a huge amount of energy to flow into All Might’s arm in order for him to use it. All Might had actually broken his arm earlier on in the fight with All For One, but the vast amount of power required to do United States of Smash ended up healing this injury so that he could perform it. The healing didn’t last, however, and he did have to get the arm treated afterward.

4 Power Stockpiling

Part of the reason that All Might ran out of power in the quirk after using United States of Smash is because One For All is a quirk that requires power stockpiling. The quirk gets stronger with each person who uses it because each of them adds power to the quirk as they go.

However, this is also the reason that, once the quirk is passed on, it no longer is an endless reserve. This means that, for a majority of his time in the My Hero Academia anime, All Might was running on what little of the power was left in him... but that much should be obvious.

3 Difficult To Master

All Might is able to do a move like the United States of Smash because he has been training for years to learn to control the vast amounts of power that come with One For All.

Because it’s a quirk that people aren’t born with, it’s not something that bodies are automatically able to handle, which is why Deku so often ends up hurting himself while fighting. All Might had to train his body to be as powerful as it was in order to use the power of the quirk.

2 All Power In One Arm

All For One works in one of two ways: a person can either distribute the power evenly throughout their body, making themselves just stronger on the whole, or they can focus all of the power into one body part, such as when they’re ready to use that body part to deliver a massive blow. United States of Smash required All Might to put all of his remaining power into his arm in order to deliver the biggest punch he possibly could.

1 All Might Is Now Quirkless

All Might, like Deku, was born without a quirk, but he was gifted One For All by the previous person who had it. Now that he has, in turn, gifted it to Deku, he was running on power reserves, as mentioned above. Though he can still access a small amount of the embers of the power, he is mostly quirkless again and can no longer participate in battles, essentially making him just a regular human instead of a superhero.
