Stain is a vigilante in the My Hero Academia universe who is obsessed with upholding the standards of "an ideal hero." After his sentiments to reform the system were unheard, he took matters into his own hands and began to kill heroes who he felt were "fake."

Ultimately, Stain's definition of a hero amounts to someone who he judges as being entirely selfless in their motives and who acts exclusively with the interest of others in mind. Stain has already made his judgement on many heroes in My Hero Academia, but how might heroes from other anime universes fare?

10 Spare: L Attempts To Pursue Justice From Anonymity (Death Note)

L crouching down and looking up in Death Note.

L Lawliet was often regarded in Death Note as the world's greatest detective, and with good reason. He was the first person to uncover Kira's identity and openly accuse him in front of witnesses.

Although Stain may not agree with L's claim that what Light was doing is bad, he would appreciate how selflessly the hero was going about stopping him. L didn't seek glory, wealth, or recognition when enacting justice - in fact, he only lived as long as he did because no one knew his real name.

9 Kill: Polnareff's Quest Against DIO Was To Satisfy A Personal Vendetta (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

polnareff in hong kong jojo's bizarre adventure

Polnareff was a hero almost exclusively driven by revenge in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The first subject of his retribution was J. Geil since he sought to bring his sister's killer to justice. After the villain's death, he continued toward Cairo with the Crusaders in order to kill DIO for infecting him with a brain parasite.

Considering that these selfish motives align with Tenya's - who Stain tried to kill in an alleyway - it follows that he wouldn't spare the Frenchman despite his later actions against Diavolo.

8 Spare: Armin's Only Interest Was To Save As Many People As Possible (Attack On Titan)

Armin being happy

Armin's sole interest in Attack on Titan was to save as many people as possible. Although he was responsible for destroying the Marleyan docks (and many innocent lives along with them), he would later directly prevent Eren from completing the Rumbling.

Considering that his only motive was to protect the defenseless, even those who might shun his Eldian lineage, Stain would perceive him as a true hero and ignore him when going through his checklist of targets.

7 Kill: Ichigo Was Interested In His Friends Above All Else (Bleach)

Anime Bleach Time Skip Ichigo

Since the beginning, Ichigo Kurosaki's primary focus in Bleach has been saving his friends in an increasingly tumultuous world of hollows and monsters. His initial journey to the Soul Society was not in order to help expose Aizen's corruption but instead to free Rukia.

Although Ichigo is still technically saving people, he's mostly focused on those he has a personal investment in. As a result, Stain would find him unworthy of being a hero and attempt to kill him. However, it'd be a nearly impossible endeavor given their vast disparity in power.

6 Spare: Naruto Was Willing To Put His Life On The Line For Others (Naruto)

Naruto Uzumaki from Naruto Shippuden.

Naruto is defined through his selflessness and heroism, even going as far as to value the lives of his enemies. He was willing to risk everything to save a village that had spurned him, as proven during his fights against Gaara, Pain, and later Sasuke Uchiha.

Although he does have a personal ambition of becoming the Hokage, the Naruto is the most qualified of his village to fulfill such a position based on his illustrious background. Therefore, Stain wouldn't attempt to act against him.

5 Kill: Ban Was Willing To Betray His Friends For A Love Interest (Seven Deadly Sins)

Ban and Elaine embrace

Although Ban's devotion to Elaine in Seven Deadly Sins is admirable, the lengths he is willing to go to save her are not. During the attack on Hendrickson's castle after Fraudrin's corruption had been exposed, he turned on Meliodas with the promise that doing so would restore his fairy partner.

Even though Ban agreed to postpone their fight until later at the captain's request, Stain would still find the Fox Sin's priorities unfit for a hero and attempt to take his life. The vigilante would posit that Liones needs better role models to rally behind.

4 Spare: Tatsumi Gave His Life To Save Others (Akame Ga Kill!)

tatsumi, Akame Ga Kill

Akame Ga Kill!'s Tatsumi was a member of Night Raid who valiantly combatted the Empire's corruption by using the Incursio armor. He was willing to put his life in grave jeopardy for the sake of others and ultimately sacrificed himself to save an entire village from being crushed to death. Considering that Tatsumi had no other motive than to destroy a dictatorship, Stain would condone his actions and leave him alone.

3 Kill: Ryuko's Top Priority Was Revenge (Kill La Kill!)

Ryuko Matoi Fighting In Kill La Kill

Ryuko's most clear interests in Kill La Kill! were to avenge her father, and she seldom expressed concern for the wellbeing of others. She was even willing to dismantle the entirety of Honnoji Academy to kill her own sister despite the school being the bedrock of the society surrounding it.

After Nui Harime incriminated herself in the death of Ryuko's father, Ryuko went into such a bloodthirsty craze that she transformed into a monster and put innocent bystanders in danger. Stain would find her behavior reprehensible and put her down at the earliest possible opportunity.

2 Spare: All Might Was Stain's Hero & Idol (My Hero Academia)

all might

My Hero Academia's former number one hero, All Might, is Stain's idol and the man upon whom he bases his idea of what a hero should be. Time and again, All Might saved Japan from its most notorious villains, and though he always appreciated praise, he never sought it out.

In the final moments before Stain's capture, he howled that All Might was the only hero worthy of detaining him. This speaks to how much he values the Symbol of Peace's morals, and he would never consider All Might a target.

1 Kill: Alucard Butchers Anyone His Master Directs Him Toward With Glee (Hellsing)

Alucard Hellsing

Alucard was the loyal vassal of Integra Hellsing and London's most reliable defender. Despite how ardently he combatted the forces of evil, the vampire was just as sadistic as the villains and gleefully drank from the blood of the innocent in order to supplement his own strength.

Alucard's moral compass was tenuous at best, only fighting against the Millennium and Iscariot organizations on the orders of Integra Hellsing. Considering that he lacks many fundamental heroic qualities, Stain would not spare his life.
