My Hero Academia's fourth season introduces fans to a broader world of Pro Heroes, courtesy of the work studies the students of U.A. High partake in during its first half. Among the new Pro Heroes viewers meet is Sir Nighteye, All Might's former sidekick and the man who eventually oversees Deku's work study -- but not necessarily for the right reasons.

Despite aligning himself against Deku's interests, however, Nighteye proves himself a worthy hero and a compelling character -- even if fans may not necessarily agree with his opinions. It's also true that there are aspects of Nighteye's character that don't make a whole lot of sense as the season progresses.

Here are 10 things that make no sense about Sir Nighteye.

10 His Requirement That Everyone Around Him Be Funny

Upon arriving at Sir Nighteye's hero agency, one of the first things Mirio tells Deku is that he'll need to be funny to impress All Might's former sidekick. And it quickly becomes clear that Mirio isn't exaggerating. Nighteye requires everyone around him to be funny, even going as far to punish those at his agency who aren't.

Why doesn't this make sense? Because Nighteye himself rarely ever has humorous moments, begging the question why he'd be so adamant about others making him laugh. Perhaps he just really needs someone to brighten the room given how dull he is.

9 His Clothing Choices

Most of the Pro Heroes from My Hero Academia sport flashy-looking hero costumes, or at least costumes that enhance their abilities in some way. Sir Nighteye appears to be the exception here, consistently wearing a grey suit, even when rushing into battle.

It's an odd fashion choice, especially in terms of comfort and flexibility. It never seems to affect Nighteye's physical capabilities, but one does have to wonder why he'd choose this particular getup to fight in. (It also immediately rips in the only battle we see him in, so clearly it's not made to be durable.)

8 His Partnership With All Might

When it comes to Nighteye's partnership with All Might, it's not the relationship behind that partnership that makes no sense -- it's the logistics. For All Might to have a sidekick, it stands to reason that he'd have to have some sort of hero agency. It's even said that Nighteye used to handle All Might's filing, but where was All Might's office, and what's happened to it since then?

All Might has never mentioned running an agency, nor have we ever seen any evidence that he's in charge of one. His connection to Nighteye suggests otherwise, though, leaving fans to wonder what the Symbol of Peace's professional life actually looks like.

7 His Refusal To Accept Deku

Sir Nighteye seems to be a character who makes most of his decisions based on logic, so it's a wonder that the Pro Hero makes his judgment of Deku based purely on emotion. Instead of waiting to see why All Might decided to take a chance on the boy, he immediately deems him unworthy of One for All, mostly because of his ties to Mirio.

And, yes, Nighteye does eventually come around and realize Deku's worth. But why did it take him so long to even give the U.A. student a chance? It seems Nighteye has an emotional blindspot when those he cares about are involved.

6 That Other Pros Don't Utilize His Quirk

Using his Quirk, Sir Nighteye can predict the future of anyone he touches and makes eye contact with, and his Foresight has only ever been wrong once. With such a powerful ability, it's surprising we fans hadn't met Nighteye sooner -- and that other Pro Heroes aren't lining up to work with him.

Although Nighteye's Quirk does have its limits, it seems it'd be useful in any number of hero investigations. At the very least, he should be ranked higher on the Hero Charts.

5 His Weapon

Since Sir Nighteye's Quirk doesn't give him any physical advantage in a fight, he's forced to Hyper-Density Seals to enhance his abilities in battle. And while these seals weigh enough to do damage, one has to wonder why Nighteye would choose this weapon -- or who even decided to make or search for a weapon like this.

There are definitely more common, powerful weapons Nighteye could have gone with -- but, hey, you can't deny his seals are at least original.

4 All Might's Opinion Of His Physical Abilities

When speaking of Nighteye, All Might downplays his former sidekick's physical abilities, insisting that his true power is his intelligence. But despite the suggestion that Nighteye isn't particularly strong, the Pro Hero seems to be sporting a six-pack under his suit -- and that's not to mention he's proved himself fast and strong in a fight.

Perhaps All Might was just comparing the Pro Hero's physical prowess to his own, but Nighteye is far from worthless in battle.

3 The Yellow Streaks In His Hair

Sir Nighteye's cold stare in My Hero Academia.

Given that My Hero Academia takes place in a world where people can be born with bird heads, having some natural yellow highlights isn't the most unrealistic thing in the world. Still, one has to wonder if this is an embellishment Nighteye made on his own. (After all, most of the characters have one hair color, even if it's naturally green.)

Perhaps this is another one of Nighteye's efforts to pay homage to All Might.

2 His Insistence That All Might Retire

Nighteye knows how important it is for society to have a Symbol to look to, and it's clear from his own death that he understands the risks and responsibilities that come with being a Pro Hero. Given that he was willing to sacrifice his own life for his profession, it's shocking he'd expect All Might to do the opposite.

Again, it seems Nighteye most certainly defies his own logic whenever the people he cares about are at risk.

1 That He Lived So Long After Fighting Overhaul

Nighteye recovers in the hospital in My Hero Academia.

During the confrontation with Overhaul, Nighteye is impaled by one of the spikes Overhaul manipulates, eventually leading to his death. Given the severity of his injury, however, it's hard to believe that Nighteye lived long enough to see Deku defeat Overhaul, much less to say farewell to his loved ones from the comfort of a hospital bed.

It's clear the character was kept alive to give fans one last, touching scene between him and his loved ones. But we'll be damned if he actually made it that long with a giant hole in his abdomen.
