My Hero Academia is one of the largest anime franchises right now. The series has a few spinoffs, such as Vigilantes, School Briefs, or Smash!. However, the newest spinoff, Team-Up Missions, is arguably the best for fans who care about the main series and look for a lighthearted glimpse at the characters. This spinoff allows fans to see character interactions they didn't know they needed. Additionally, characters who haven't been seen for a while in the main series make appearances.

10 A Great Read For Avid MHA Fans

The heroes of My Hero Academia

For the most avid My Hero Academia fans, this spinoff will prove to be a worthwhile read. For superfans who collect as much MHA merch as they can find, it is no question that Team-Up Missions is a must-have to add to their shelves.

It has the humor and lightheartedness of School Briefs, but it still takes itself seriously, unlike Smash!. This series has bits of trivia about the characters scattered throughout the chapters. Additionally, it allows fans a glimpse into the mind of Yoko Akiyama.

For fans who do not have as much time or energy to read the manga as they might like, Team-Up Missions will suffice as a lighter read. The chapters are short, each a separate story in and of themselves.

The spinoff is also an excellent read for younger fans of the series. For those who find their minds wandering easily, Team-Up Missions is engaging enough to keep their focus on the story because of how short and quick-paced the story is.

8 It Is Not Nearly As Intense As The Main Series

In the recent chapters of the main series, things are pretty dark for Deku and the gang. However, Team-Up Missions serves as a nice contrast to such a heavy-hearted, intense plot.

Sometimes, fans just want to see the students in situations that allow them to be kids for a change. Team-Up Missions provides that while showing their progressions into becoming professional heroes. Team-Up Missions is a humorous alternative to the main storyline, which is currently the darkest it has ever been.

7 A Comedy That Still Offers Insight To The Main Plot

Team-Up Missions is a comedic story at its' core. However, unlike Smash!, it still takes itself seriously. While Smash! is more of a gag, Team-Up Missions still seeks to offer insight into the series' most popular characters. This spinoff features lots of rich dialogue and witty banter between the characters.

The unlikely matchups showcase how personalities can clash immediately or blend surprisingly well together. This story not only features the students and faculty of U.A. High School — but also those of Shiketsu and Ketsubutsu. The possibilities for this spinoff are endless.

6 Team-Up Missions Showcases Certain Characters Through A Brand New Lens

The catch to the characters' participation in these missions is that their pairings will be a complete surprise. Students from other schools could even be picked at random, as well as pro-heroes. Such interactions give characters who had relatively insignificant or brief roles in the main story the opportunity to be seen through a whole new lens.

For example, in chapter five, Kaminari and Todoroki meet up with Yoarashi and Shishikura from Shiketsu Academy. Earlier in the story, both students from Shiketsu had issues with both U.A. students during the Hero License Exams. However, they are now forced to work together for an unlikely reason — to cook soba noodles for a pro-hero named Gantetsu. Showing how these clashing personalities can work together in unusual situations provides the audience with a new glimpse at how even the side characters have grown over time.

As fans wait for new chapters of My Hero Academia to be released, they may feel impatient and wish that they had something to read in the meantime. Team-Up Missions is an excellent read for periods such as those. Especially since the main series is a bit dark at the moment, Team-Up Missions shows a happier side to the cast.

The spinoff also includes little extras that Akiyama created, which are a pleasant addition to the story. These side stories are easy to digest and satisfying to fans who are awaiting new chapters.

4 Characters Who Have Not Been Seen In Ages Are Reintroduced

Team-Up Missions reintroduces characters to the story who have not been seen in a while in the main storyline. For example, Melissa Sheild from the first movie, Two Heroes, makes a reappearance in this spinoff. Melissa visits U.A. because she is researching support items and is teamed up with Hatsume Mei to develop new ideas.

The spinoff also introduces brand new pro-heroes, such as Gantetsu and Odd-Eye. Appearances from characters who have not been part of the main plot in a while, such as Shikai Kuroiro, Camie, and Shishikura, are made. Fans may have forgotten about a few of these characters just because of how long it has been since their last appearances in the main series.

Yoko Akiyama is one of Kohei Horikoshi's assistants. Aside from Team-Up Missions, she has also created other spinoffs for My Hero Academia, such as My Heroine Academia, Endeavor's Mission, and both parts of Deku & Bakugo: Rising.

When fans read this spinoff, they appreciate the author's imagination. With such a massive cast of characters to work with, Yoko had many options to choose from when carefully crafting these matchups. Akiyama has a gift for storytelling, and it truly shines in this spinoff. She created numerous stories that are easy to digest and enjoyable for all fans of My Hero Academia.

2 The Characters Are Seen Outside Of Dire Situations

Team-Up Missions is a delight for fans who are emotionally invested in My Hero Academia because it shows the cast outside of the dire, traumatic situations that currently define the main series. Though the students are still teaming up with each other and pro-heroes to stop villains, it is nowhere near as high stakes as the main plot.

Team-Up Missions provides a fun glimpse at the cast as they train to be pro-heroes. In this spinoff, hero work is much more lighthearted. For example, one of the missions shows Bakugo, Iida, Todoroki, Midoriya, All Might, and Jirou helping a young boy retrieve his favorite soccer ball from a group of thugs who stole it from him. Compared to the all-out war in the main plot, this spinoff is a nice break from such intensity.

1 Plenty Of Unique Pairings and Activities That Wouldn't Otherwise Be Seen

The main highlight of Team-Up Missions is that it features plenty of unique matchups and activities that wouldn't otherwise be seen in My Hero Academia. Some of them are a bit higher stakes, such as when Fat Gum, Yaoyorozu, Tamaki, and Iida have to stop many villain extremists from rioting in the streets.

Some of them are just plain silly, such as when Present Mic hosts a radio show with All Might where they answer anonymously submitted questions from the students — which essentially turns into every single answer is the duo telling everybody to respond with a diss track to anyone giving them a hard time. Fans are sure to enjoy the number of unique pairings that are to be discovered in this spinoff.
