The story of My Hero Academia is the story of Izuku Midoriya and his quest to become the new Symbol of Peace, bearing the quirk All For One to make that dream possible. But he isn't alone; Izuku has made many new friends at UA, and his best friend so far is Ochaco Uraraka.

Another student in class 1-A, Ochaco is a girl with the zero-gravity quirk, meaning she can make people or items weightless with a touch. She has come a long way since the series' beginning, like Izuku, but not quite everything about her has changed. In many regards, Ochaco is still true to herself after all this time.

10 Changed: Confidence In Her Purpose

Every student at UA has their own reason for wanting to become a hero, and most often, those motives include "I want to protect and inspire people." Shoto also wants to prove his strength and become independent of Endeavor, and Mineta wants to impress girls. Ochaco wants the money.

She was embarrassed about this at first, but after admitting it to Izuku and Iida, they supported her, since her motive is to financially support her struggling parents and repay them for raising her right. She no longer feels so ashamed of her motive, and she can move on with a clear head.

9 Same: Caring About Others

Ever since the beginning, Ochaco has been the type to support other people, and connect with them on a personal level. She isn't coldly ruthless lke Shoto or self-absorbed like Katsuki Bakugo; instead, she's here to keep everyone happy.

Ochaco was the first student to warmly welcome Izuu to UA, and she is quick to comfort Tsuyu or anyone else who needs a little emotional support. It's a great personality trait of hers, and it's not liable to change anytime soon.

8 Changed: Comboing With Others

At first, Ochaco fought with only her own quirk, though she did complete a team exercise and reached the objective while outmaneuvering Tenya Iida. She fought alone against Katsuki Bakugo later on, then began to combine her talents with those of her allies.

Most often, Ochaco combos well with Tsuyu Asui, since she can make a target weightless, then Tsuyu can fling it high into the air with her tongue. When Ochaco undoes her quirk, the target will crash back down to earth with great force. It was a great idea to start using that combo.

7 Same: Relationship To Parents

These are Ochaco's mother and father, and though they have spent very little time on-screen, it is already clear that Ochaco is very close to both of them. They raised Ochaco right, and they are cheering her on through her entire career as a trainee hero.

Ochaco loves them both, and supporting them is her #1 motive for becoming a hero. This is one of the most healthy and functional families shown in the series, and by all accounts, the Urarakas will be a tightly-knit bunch for years to come.

6 Changed: Melee Skills

Ochaco has always been a melee fighter, since her quirk does not launch projectiles or beams of any kind. Instead, she has to get close to her target and touch them, and it pays to have more advanced CQC (close quarters combat) skills.

For a time, Ochcao relied entirely on her quirk, but then she wisely chose to train under the pro hero Gun Head, and learned his brand of CQC, including how to handle an opponent with a knife. This soon became an important part of Ochaco's arsenal.

5 Same: Hero Costume

All of class 1-A's students designed their costumes and began wearing them early on, and a few of the students modified their outfits to suit their needs. Denki changed his, for example, and Izuku modified his costume to remove the hood and add Mei Hatsume's helpful devices.

Ochaco's costume has been the same since, and although it was more form-fitting than she meant, she is clearly comfortable using this costume in combat, so it's not too likely that she will seriously modify it. She's all set. Note: as of the anime, Ochaco's costume is the same. It may change slightly in future seasons.

4 Changed: Battlefield Experience

All of UA's hero students undergo physical training to enhance their quirks and skills, but some students are pulling ahead of the pack where real-life experience is concerned. Ochaco is among the more experienced students, having faced villains in serious combat scenarios.

At first, Ochaco had never seen a villain up close, but now, she has tangled with several and survived, giving her much-needed experience. For example, she faced Himiko Toga in the forest, and she battled villains while working with Ryukyu and Tsuyu.

3 Same: Low-Income Status

My Hero Academia's Uraraka training at U.A. High

This isn't a serious concern for Ochaco at the moment, since she is busy training and has set herself on the correct path for future success. However, being a student at UA does not result in any paychecks, and as of now, Ochaco and her parents are still low-income.

Ochaco has an old-fashioned cell phone and few personal amenities, since those generous hero paychecks are still years in the future. Fortunately, Ochaco is used to this, and can handle low-income life without complaint.

2 Changed: Relationship To Izuku

Ochaco knew right away that she wanted to be Izuku's friend, but at first, that was the extent of it. As the weeks and months passed, Ochaco began to realize that Izuku wasn't just a cool classmate; he was inspiring, like All Might was to everyone else.

Ochaco realized that she wanted to be just like him, and strove to follow his example and get closer to him over time. Before she knew it, she was starting to love him, but it wouldn't be easy to confess those newfound feelings. All in good time.

1 Same: Practical Lifestyle

Not a lot of this has been shown, but it's there, and little has changed. Ochaco, being in a low-income household, is used to being practical and making the most of everything she has, and being smart with her limited spending money.

At the mall, Ochaco only wanted to buy a few necessary items, not designer clothes or jewelry, and she is perfectly willing to spend her few off days going shopping rather than goofing off with friends all day.
