My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission is adding a new character to the world of superheroes.

Rody Soul, the brand new original character was introduced to fans through the film's official Twitter account. A pivotal character in World Heroes' Mission, Rody holds the key to the origin story of Hiroaka's love explosion. He is designed by the original My Hero Academia author Kohei Horikoshi and will be voiced by Ryo Yoshizawa (Tokyo Revengers, Gintama 2).

World Heroes' Mission is the third feature-length My Hero Academia film, following the success of Two Heroes and Heroes Rising. World Heroes' Mission introduces the terrorist group Humarize, whose "Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory" suggests Quirks are a dangerous disease that must be eradicated to prevent the fall of humanity. In accordance with this belief, Humarize plants "Ideo Trigger Bombs" in various countries, which causes Quirk users to lose control of their abilities. The mass destruction that occurs from these bombs urges Pro-Heroes from around the world to unite, with the aid of U.A. Academy's Heroes in Training, Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki.

Although there is still little information about the new character Rody Soul thus far, the announcement did share some details about Soul's role in World Heroes' Mission. "Although he is in a good mood, he does not reveal his true intentions to anyone and even has a distrust of the hero." With this description, many are left to ponder whether Rody will be an ally to Midoriya and friends, or if he will side with the Humarize terrorist group to eliminate Quirk users. Either way, Rody will be yet another interesting expansion to the characters within the My Hero Academia universe, and will likely play a pivotal role in shaping how U.A. Academy's young heroes view their world.

A teaser trailer for World Heroes' Mission was released in March that featured the uprising of the Humarize cult, as well as a shocking plotline in which Izuku Midoriya is dubbed a wanted fugitive for committing mass murder. The teaser also saw the expansion of the My Hero Academia universe, as heroes from around the world came together.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission arrives in theaters in Japan Aug. 6. The film has yet to receive a release date in other territories.
