Nemuri Kayama, also known by the Hero name of 18+ Only Hero Midnight, is one of My Hero Academia's most important characters. She is a powerful pro Hero capable of defeating most villains with her stupendous powers. She also serves as a teacher at U.A High School.

Unlike some other characters we've seen in the series, Midnight isn't as central to the story as one would like her to be. Consequently, not a lot is known about her or what kind of a hero she is. Here are 10 facts that you didn't know about one of U.A's strongest professors, Midnight.

10 Her Debut

Midnight, being one of the main characters in the series, made her appearance quite early in My Hero Academia. In Kohei Horikoshi's manga, we get to see her being introduced in chapter three of the story.

However, things are slightly different in the anime, where Midnight isn't introduced until the ninth episode. This makes her debut in the anime and the manga quite different, although it is equally as impactful in both the cases.

9 Her Quirk

Like most known pro Heroes in My Hero Academia, Midnight has access to a special ability, known as a Quirk, and a very unique one, at that. Her Quirk is known as Somnambulist, and it lets her release a perfume from her body that puts her targets to sleep.

This ability is very useful, even against people stronger than Midnight, which is what makes her such a big threat. The only way to avoid falling asleep when fighting her is by not breathing in any of the aroma, or by fighting from distance somehow, both of which are inconvenient ways of fighting.

8 What She Does

Midnight is a pro hero, which means most of her time is spent in fighting crime and defeating evil villains who pose a threat to society. However, like many other Heroes, Midnight also teaches students at U.A.

Although we haven't seen her teaching a lot, what we do know is that Midnight teaches Modern Hero Art History there, which appears to be a rather interesting subject. She also does a great job at officiating at major events, such as the Sports Festival, as seen at the beginning of the series.

7 Her Breaking Point

Midnight uses her quirk

Midnight's personality is one of the most charming things about her character. Although she loves to play around with others and flirt with some, she is also quite easy to annoy.

From what we've seen of her, Midnight absolutely hates it when someone interrupts her while she's talking, and, at the same time, she is known to not be able to take insults very well. She gets even angrier when people talk about her age. It is safe to assume that Midnight has a very temperamental nature. Nonetheless, she's one of the most interesting characters that we've seen in the series.

6 Her Stats (Ultra Archive Book)

According to the Ultra Archive Book, Midnight is quite a powerful pro hero, although not someone who is close to being crowned the Number one any time soon.

According to the Ultra Archive Book, Midnight has a 2/5 in terms of power, meaning she isn't as impressive strength-wise, while she has a 3/5 in speed, intelligence, and cooperativeness. Her biggest asset, it seems, is her technique, which has a score of 5/5, which is what makes her a dangerous pro hero to even the strongest of villains.

5 Her Stats (Ultra Analysis Book)

The more recent Ultra Analysis Book has Midnight's stats slightly different from those we've seen in the Ultra Archive Book. However, they're just as interesting in this book, as well.

According to the Ultra Analysis Book, Midnight has a 2/6 in power, which makes her below average, while she has a 3/6 in speed and intelligence. Her biggest strengths, according to the Ultra Analysis Book, are her technique (5/6), and her sexiness (6/6). It goes without saying that with these weapons, Midnight is nigh stoppable.

4 Her Hero Equipment

Heroes are often seen sporting equipment that helps them in combating villains. A good example of this would be our aspirants, such as Midoriya, Bakugo, and even Todoroki, all of which have their own set of gear that helps them fight the enemy threat.

Midnight, too, had a bunch of Hero equipment that she uses in tandem with her Quirk. As seen throughout the course of the series, Midnight carries a whip. Apart from that, she is also seen wearing an Ultra Thin Fabric Suit, which lets her powers take the enemies by surprise.

3 The Meaning Of Her Name

Kohei Horikoshi is very clever with the names that he picks for his characters, and, more often than not, they pack a hidden meaning. Midnight's real name, Nemuri Kayama, is actually very cleverly picked by Kohei Horikoshi. The Kanji for her name translates to fragrance (ka), mountain (yama), and sleep (nemuri).

Interestingly, this basically describes the powers of her Quirk, which is to release a scent from her exposed skin that puts people to sleep.

2 Horikoshi's Original Plans

From what we know, Kohei Horikoshi intended for Midnight to be the homeroom teacher for Class 1-A at U.A initially. However, this never came to be, and the role was later given to none other than Shota Aizawa.

According to Horikoshi, this was done because he wanted someone different at the helm, preferably one who could get sharp-tongued with the kids if the need ever arose.

1 Her First Costume

Midnight has a brazen and fearless personality, and it seems that was the case in her early days as a Hero too. It is stated that her first hero costume was solely responsible for the amount of skin that could be shown in a female costume to be regulated.

Her current costume appears to be much better, however, Midnight has seen to it that it doesn't stop her from showing off her sexiness in the best way possible, and, at the same time, ensured that it doesn't limit the abilities of her Quirk in any way. For this, she had a special costume developed that could be ripped very easily.
