The universe of My Hero Academia was greatly expanded in the third feature-length movie, World Heroes' Mission. It takes place late in Season 5 of the original anime, and during this time, many of U.A.'s best students are in the middle of their work studies when the global mission launches. Izuku and his classmates are in for the adventure of a lifetime.

A handful of prominent characters get a lot of screentime in this movie, most of all Izuku Midoriya the protagonist, along with newcomers such as the rogue Rody Soul and the newest archvillain, Flect Turn. Unfortunately, there wasn't room to give every fan-favorite character the screentime they deserved, and some new characters hardly got a chance to shine, either. Which characters were underused or totally absent?

10 Claire Voyance Didn't Do Much

claire voyance mha

One of the new characters introduced in World Heroes' Mission is the support hero Claire Voyance, a blonde woman who can use her Quirk to see through walls and other solid objects to track a target. This Quirk makes her a highly effective support hero, and she has a cool costume to match.

Claire did her best to help support the other heroes during the desperate battle against the wicked Humarise organization, but she had limited impact, and nothing of her personal background or career was explored in depth. For now, she is little more than a side character.

9 Big Red Dot Wasn't Fleshed Out Much

big red dot

The #1 Pro Hero of the island nation of Singapore is named Big Red Dot, a lion-headed hero who can fight at long range with pressurized jets of water from his mouth. He fought alongside a few U.A. students in his homeland during the events of World Heroes' Mission.

Big Red Dot looked cool, but he didn't say or do very much in the movie, and he had a limited impact in the narrative, just like Claire Voyance. Similarly, little is known of his personal backstory or career as a hero, or even the name of the heroics school he graduated from.

8 Tenya Iida Wasn't On The Front Lines

Tenya Ida my hero academia

Tenya Iida is a smart and tough student in Class 1-A, and he is one of Class 1-A's fastest students, too. Tenya is also an enthusiastic hero and a fine strategist, while still having some room to grow as a hero and person. All this makes him compelling to watch.

Unfortunately, Tenya was one of several U.A. students who remained behind during the mission, and he just watched the battle unfold on TV. That's a total waste of his character, since it would have been fun to see him racing around Paris or Cairo, taking the fight to Humarise.

7 Hawks Only Made A Brief Appearance In NYC

My Hero Academia - Hawks

Hawks is the #2 Pro Hero in Japan, and he can soar high in the sky with his Fierce Wings Quirk. He also joined the Meta Liberation Army as a double agent, and mentored the darkness hero, Fumikage Tokoyami. He and Fumikage worked together during World Heroes' Mission.

The two of them visited New York City and fought on the frontlines there, and while it was clear that Hawks did his best, not much was seen of him. That's a shame, given what a popular and charming hero he can be.

6 Fumikage Tokoyami Didn't Show Off His Moves

fumikage tokoyami mha

Fumikage Tokoyami has learned a lot from Hawks, and he put his lessons to good use during the joint training battle against Class 1-B before finally succumbing to Kinoko Komori's sneaky mushroom spore attack. He has come a long way since his introduction, and he never got complacent despite how naturally gifted he is.

Fumikage dutifully followed his mentor, Hawks, to the U.S.A. to help fight back against Humarise. Too little of Fumikage was seen during that fight, and he didn't get many chances to show off his creative new moves. He hasn't yet been seen winning a battle with his advanced skills.

5 Tamaki Amajiki Made Only A Brief Appearance At Best

Tamaki Amajiki in My Hero Academia.

Tamaki Amajiki is one of U.A.'s "big three," despite his timid and unassertive personality, and he has a remarkable food-based Quirk at his disposal. Tamaki can eat something, then morph his body parts based on the consumed food, from chicken wings to cow horns to clams and octopus tentacles.

Tamaki proved his worth against the Eight Bullets in the anime, but World Heroes' Mission didn't give him the screentime he deserved, so Tamaki had no chance to show off any more creative uses of his Quirk.

4 Mirko Could Have Done More

mirko mha

Mirko is one of the strongest Pro Heroes of all, and the strongest female hero in particular. Mirko is noted for her rabbit theme and her fiercely independent attitude, and she has made a brief appearance in the anime so far. She also made an appearance as a high school student in the Vigilantes spinoff manga.

Mirko didn't have much to say or do in the World Heroes' Mission movie, however, which was a wasted opportunity to expand upon her character, such as her relationship to other heroes and her fighting style. Her time to shine has not yet come in the anime or movie series.

3 Salaam Made A Token Appearance

salaam mha

Salaam is another Pro Hero who made his first appearance in the World Heroes' Mission movie, and like the others, he didn't get a chance to really show off what he can do. He is Egypt's #1 Pro Hero, and his Papyrus Quirk makes his entire body flexible and 2-D, like a sheet of papyrus. People always see him from the front side.

Being able to fold and compress his body like that makes Salaam somewhat similar to the ninja-themed hero Edgeshot, but little else can be said of him, aside from his general popularity in his native Egypt. No doubt fans are curious to see what else makes this 2-D Pharaoh-style hero tick.

2 Eraserhead Didn't Do Anything

Shota Aizawa/Eraser Head in MHA

Shota Aizawa, AKA Eraserhead, is the homeroom teacher of Class 1-A, and he plays a substantial supporting role in the main story for Class 1-A. He is also an exciting and stylish hero in his own right, using his Erasure Quirk, quick wits and tools to track and capture villains on the streets.

However, Eraserhead was sidelined completely for World Heroes' Mission, so fans will never know how he would have fared against the most elite Quirk-bearing villains of the Humarise organization. On the front lines, he would have been an effective leader, too.

1 Beros Is A Skilled Archer

Beros character art from My Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission.

The Humarise organization sought to rid the world of Quirks for the sake of the Quirkless population, but this villainous group did hire a few villains who had Quirks of their own. One of them was Beros, a mysterious archer who could morph her fingers into a bow and arrow to fight at range.

Beros fought one brief battle against Izuku, Bakugo and Shoto before she and her ally were dispatched, which was a shame. Surely, Beros could have survived to fight again later in the movie and show what she's truly made of.
