Something that’s so infectious about shonen anime is that the series are full of incredibly powerful characters. My Hero Academia is no exception to this and the popular anime has done impressive work to feature a varied cast that defies expectations in many ways. Katsuki Bakugo may not be the main character in My Hero Academia, but he’s a fantastic foil for Izuku Midoriya and one of the strongest fighters at U.A. High.

Bakugo may fare well against the rest of his classmates, but the Marvel Universe is a very different story. Accordingly, here are 5 Marvel characters who My Hero Academia’s Bakugo would defeat and five who would wipe him out.

10 Would Defeat: Blizzard

Blizzard is a Marvel villain who’s most commonly an antagonist to Iron Man, but he’s done a decent amount of damage over the years. Blizzard’s Donald Gill is most adept with his weaponry that allows him to lower temperatures and create ice and snow. He also has a decent control over electric energy, as well.

Considering that Bakugo’s Quirk centers around explosives and intense heat, he already has an advantage against Blizzard. Both individuals are driven by the desire to prove that they’re the best, but Bakugo’s Quirk will consistently trump Blizzard’s skill set.

9 Would Wipe Him Out: Odin

Bakugo is a very powerful superhero, but the Marvel Universe literally has Gods that wage war against others. Thor or any of the other Asgardians have access to unbelievable reserves of energy, but Odin is the most extreme example of this.

Not only does he wield incredible strength with the Odin Force, but he's also resistant to magic and most ailments that come from Earth. Bakugo could throw a lot of manpower at Odin, but he's just too powerful to be taken out by standard attacks. Odin is someone who requires a massive strategy to be defeated.

8 Would Defeat: Hawkeye

Hawkeye can often get underappreciated and he can sometimes feel like an extraneous member of the Avengers. It’s Hawkeye’s grounded nature that makes him such a rich and fascinating character, but that’s not going to necessarily save him in a fight.

Hawkeye has a wealth of creative arrows he could dispense against Bakugo, but Bakugo’s Explosion Quirk wouldn’t only destroy them all, but also do possibly lethal damage to Hawkeye. Hawkeye has excellent aim and agility, but that’s next to useless when he’s basically getting attacked by a cannon.

7 Would Wipe Him Out: Thanos

The Marvel Cinematic Universe helped put Thanos on the map in a big way and showed mainstream audiences why he’s such a notorious tyrant. Thanos houses extreme physical strength and has impressive support behind him. He’s still serious trouble even without the Infinity Gauntlet.

Bakugo’s fighting spirit would surely get ignited against Thanos and he’d unleash a barrage of attacks. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t really impede Thanos. Bakugo isn’t going to fare any better against Thanos than say Doctor Strange or the Scarlet Witch, who are both powerful magic users.

6 Would Defeat: Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Raccoon

Rocket Raccoon is one of the more absurd characters to show up in Marvel Comics, but thanks to the popular Guardians of the Galaxy movies the niche character has become a mainstream success. Curiously, Rocket and Bakugo are quite similar.

Rocket is vastly smarter, but they share similar dispositions and pack comparable firepower. This would definitely be an explosive battle, but Bakugo’s explosions have more power behind them and he’s able to increase his skills at a greater capacity than the stock artillery that Rocket Raccoon carries around with him.

5 Would Wipe Him Out: Professor X

When it comes to psychically powered X-Men, there are few that are more impressive than Charles Xavier’s Professor X. Not only is he a symbol of optimism and hope for mutants, but his immense psychic powers allow him to take dominion over most mutants, if he feels so inclined.

Bakugo’s Quirk is nothing in comparison to what Professor X has had to deal with in the past. So not only would Bakugo’s powers be mostly useless, but Xavier could also manipulate and tap into Bakugo’s mind to make him even less of a threat.

4 Would Defeat: Iceman

Iceman using his omega-level mutant abilities

When it comes to the X-Men there are all sorts of mutants that have unbelievable powers that really push the limits of what mutants can accomplish. Iceman is a reflection of the opposite extreme and his subzero abilities feel like standard fodder for super powers.

Iceman can freeze things or create ice as a means of transportation. This is helpful against some common criminal, but Bakugo’s Explosion Quirk could melt Iceman’s creations before it even fires off. His explosions would devastate Iceman and leave the mutant with little recourse.

3 Would Wipe Him Out: Phoenix Force

Marvel Phoenix Force Jean Grey

In Marvel Comics, the Phoenix Force is one of the most emotional stories that's ever been told through the X-Men. The Phoenix Force is a pure manifestation of the universe's life and energy. It's technically an immortal entity and whoever it possesses immediately becomes an insurmountable danger.

The Phoenix Force has wiped out some of the X-Men's finest, so it doesn't seem like it would struggle much against Bakugo. Bakugo's explosive attacks wouldn't do anything to the Phoenix and even if Bakugo stays alive there's still no way to fully extinguish these flames.

2 Would Defeat: Frostbite

Marvel Comics have featured several iterations on the ice-based character, Frostbite, but perhaps the most interesting take on the character is Patrice Cahill who comes from the X-Men 2099 series. Frostbite is genetically manipulated by Master Zhao to be a fitting counterpart to the original X-Men team.

She has exceptional ice powers, but she's less in control of her abilities than Bakugo is with his Quirk. Furthermore, Bakugo's Quirk would easily melt any attacks that Frostbite attempts on him and would likely be incredibly effective against her.

1 Would Wipe Him Out: Galactus

Bakugo has made a huge impression at U.A. High and he’s earned acclaim as one of the most aggressive and dedicated fighters at the school. Bakugo’s been able to refine his Explosion Quirk and demonstrate just how much damage it can do. This may be intimidating to a high school student, but Galactus is on a whole other level. This is a cosmic entity that gains sustenance by consuming entire planets.

Galactus could swallow up every single hero at U.A. High without them even understanding what’s happened to them.
