My Hero Academia rarely focuses on any kind of romance between characters. The shonen genre usually dedicates a select number of episodes to deal with couples or characters that are known to have crushes on each other. Of course, this is not true for every manga and show, but it is the typical formula.
My Hero Academia hints at a few romantic possibilities, including Izuku Midoriya and Ochako Uraraka. The two are arguably the main couple of the series. While the manga does not hint at too many pairings, some stand out, while fans have several non-canon ships that they want to see by the end of the series.

Some romances have even had canon developments since this list was first written. Therefore, this article has been updated to include current information and present even more couples for fans to ship.
2 Pairings The Manga Teased
Mt. Lady & Kamui Woods
Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods are two Pro Heroes who apparently have a little more going on than just being hero partners. The manga has hinted at and teased their romantic relationship a few times as they have risked their lives for one another and always seem to care a little extra when the other gets hurt.
Mt. Lady is a comical hero that fans meet at the beginning of My Hero Academia. In comparison, Kamui Woods is typically cool, calm, and rather quiet. Fans hope to see confirmation of their relationship later in the series.
Ms. Joke & Aizawa
Ms. Joke and Shota Aizawa are reunited when their students participate in the Hero Licensing Exam. As they knew each other in their younger years, fans notice some potential romantic tension between the pair. Mrs. Joke even teases Aizawa about wanting to marry him.
Although it is all in good fun, sharp-eyed readers can sense the romantic undertones of Aizawa and Ms. Joke's relationship. Whether one of them is actually smitten with the other is unknown, but the manga assuredly wanted fans to speculate about Aizawa and Ms. Joke's past.
Amajiki & Togata
When Tamaki Amajiki is asked about why he became a hero, he responds with nothing but compliments toward his best friend, Mirio Togata. The way Amajiki reminisces about his friend's belief in him gave readers clues that Amajiki and Togata may share more than just friendship.
Although nothing is confirmed, Amajiki's admiration for Togata gives fans a sense that his feelings tend toward the romantic. The way he waxes poetic about his friend's help gave many people hope that an Amajiki and Togata romance would be coming down the line.
Twice & Toga
Twice and Toga are an odd pair, and a lot of fans do not know how to feel about them. Twice is super into Toga and has made it abundantly clear that she is pretty much the only person he admires. He does anything in his power for her.
Meanwhile, Toga has her sights set on Deku, though she seems to have a soft spot in her heart for Twice. Although these two never got to have their day in the sun, their parting was so tragic and meaningful, that there is no way Toga did not feel anything for Twice.
Kaminari & Jiro
At long last, Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jiro have some confirmation as a couple in more recent chapters and the anime. As Kaminari panics upon entering a real battlefield, he is reminded to think about who he is protecting. Kaminari's gaze then pans behind him, where fans finally see that he is only thinking of Jiro.
This confirmation gives fans hope that they will see even more of Kaminari and Jiro's relationship in chapters to come. The two are already great friends and Kaminari likes to make sure that Jiro is okay at all times. This pairing is probably the most teased, and most anticipated second only to Midoriya and Uraraka.
Izuku & Toga
This ship is pretty odd considering Izuku Midoriya is the protagonist and Toga is one of the main villains. This ship was arguably made to make the Deku and Uraraka dynamic a little complicated, especially when Toga posed as her during the Hero Licensing Exam.
However, Deku was able to see right through Toga because she simply was not Uraraka. While the show has occasionally teased this pairing, it will most likely not happen.
Midoriya & Uraraka
Deku and Uraraka are arguably the most popular ship in the series and the couple closest to becoming canon. Ochaco Uraraka has acknowledged her feelings for Deku many times and Deku had a pretty adorable crush on her as well.
Deku still occasionally becomes extremely flustered whenever Uraraka is too close, and now she does the same with him. This is a pairing that fans want to see together and that the manga has hinted at time and time again, even if it is not a huge focus.
Kirishima & Ashido
Mina Ashido and Eijiro Kirishima have known each other since middle school. In that time, many things have happened, and both of them have changed into real heroes. Another thing that has changed is the nature of their relationship.
Though Kirishima admits that Ashido inspired him to become a hero, Ashido has also shown her admiration for Kirishima – especially when she debuts her new Ultimate Move that she claims is based on his Unbreakable. Kirishima and Ashido seem destined for each other at this point, and fans cannot wait to see their love unfold.
1 Pairings MHA Fans Want To See
All Might & Inko Midoriya
Although fans are well aware of the existence of Midoriya's dad, they have yet to see him. Therefore, they fall upon All Might as Midoriya's closest adult male teacher to fill not only a fatherly role but perhaps a role as a husband too. Inko Midoriya has been alone a lot, due to her husband's work.
He is gone so much that fans wonder whether he and Inko are still married. Without having seen him in person, many viewers hope that Inko will find love in Midoriya's second father figure, All Might. Though they have had few interactions, All Might and Inko showed promise as a couple due to their shared investment in Midoriya's wellbeing. It may be a bit of a stretch, but many fans cannot help but dream of All Might becoming Midoriya's real stepdad.
Todoroki & Yaoyorozu
Todoroki and Momo Yaoyarozu have been a pairing that fans have wanted to see get-together since they were paired together for their teacher vs student training mission where Todoroki helped Momo find some much-needed confidence in herself. This potential couple is adorable and has a ton of fanart behind it.
Though the show has not really hinted at this pairing, it is possible that they may just end up together by the end due to the slight "more-than-friendly" moments the two have shared. Out of all the Class 1-A ships, this is one of the three pairings that is most likely to happen.
Shinso & Kaminari
When Hitoshi Shinso first arrives on the scene, he claims that he is not at school to make friends. However, against his wishes, Shinso befriends Class 1-A student, Denki Kaminari.
In sharp contrast to Shinso, Denki is effervescent and extroverted. He loves to have a good time, and he tends to have a lot of unearned confidence. He is also one of the first people to offer his friendship to Shinso after it is announced that he will be joining the Hero Course. Their unlikely friendship, coupled with their differing personalities, makes Shinso and Kaminari a fan-favorite pairing.
Tsuyu & Tokoyami
Like Todoroki and Yaoyorozu, Tsuyu Asui and Fumikage Tokoyami are a pairing that many fans started to want to see after they were put together during their training mission.Tsuyu and Tokoyami were paired against Ectoplasm. During that fight, they showed off a little more of their friendship with one another.
The two both have animalistic qualities as well, which makes fans think they would suit each other nicely. This pairing has not really been hinted at again other than through brief interactions, but fans are still hoping for these two to set sail.
Todoroki & Midoriya
Ever since their battle during the Tournament Arc, fans have been shipping Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya together. Audiences adore that Midoriya helped Todoroki reclaim his Quirk, and were overjoyed when their suspicions seemed to have standing when Todoroki was the only one to drop everything to rush to Midoriya's aid in the Hosu Incident.
Since then, Todoroki and Midoriya have been on countless missions together. Each time, they seem to show a bond that could mean something more than friendship. Although fans will probably never know for certain, many hope that Midoriya and Todoroki's feelings for each other are real and that they will fall in love onscreen.
Kirishima & Bakugo
Kirishima and Katsuki Bakugo are best friends in the series. Kirishima is the only character that Bakugo is ever actually friendly with. Consequently, shippers believe they would make an excellent pairing.
Bakugo seems to have a soft spot when it comes to Kirishima and is always the most himself around Red Riot. Bakugo is less aggressive and angry and just speaks casually, rather than performing like he always does. Kirishima is also a bit softer when it comes to Bakugo, as he cares about his friend deeply and always wants to make sure he is okay.
Eraser Head & Present Mic
Eraser Head and Present Mic are another popular ship that have a long history with one another. They have been friends since their own time at U.A. and act almost like co-parents to Eri.
Aizawa and Present Mic have a unique relationship that has brought them closer together, despite their obvious differences. Present Mic even gave Aizawa his hero name. As the two men are such close friends, many fans feel that they should take their relationship to the next level.
Bakugo & Uraraka
This ship is probably one of the strangest out there and is heavily fueled by fanart and fanfiction. This ship stems from the Tournament Arc where the two went head-to-head in combat. Fans pretty much expected Uraraka to flat out lose since Bakugo is one of the strongest students in U.A.
However, Bakugo found this battle challenging. During this fight, Bakugo told Uraraka how much he respected her and her abilities. He did not belittle her in any way and was pretty courteous. For Bakugo, the rudest character on the show, to actually be nice to Uraraka made fans go wild.
