The League of Villains was the main antagonistic force of the My Hero Academia universe. As the name suggests, it is comprised of the worst evildoers in Japanese society and single-mindedly devoted to unleashing as much chaos and destruction as possible.

Although there are many immediate detriments to joining the League, it may come as a surprise that there are an equal amount of benefits.

10 Harsh Reality: League Members Are Expected To Commit Atrocities Without Hesitation

Perhaps the most immediately evident drawback of joining the League is its moral ramifications. Members are expected to kill innocent people and cause chaos when ordered to, entailing that no upright person would ever want to enlist.

For example, Shigaraki was content with disintegrating an entire city block in order to experiment with his quirk. Additionally, Dabi and Mr. Compress gleefully murdered Snatch, a hero who only wanted to escort Overhaul safely to prison. The League is also responsible for child abduction.

9 Perk: League Members Are Not Constrained By Society's Regulations For Quirks

An understated benefit of joining the League is that it means one doesn't have to comply with Japan's onerous laws. They can use their quirks at their leisure since they are no longer constrained by anti-quirk policies.

In this regard, members are invited to experiment more with themselves and their powers than they possibly could have under normal circumstances. It was the primary philosophy of the Meta Liberation Army and the reason why they were able to recruit so many members in such a brief period of time.

8 Harsh Reality: The League Is Hunted By Japan's Finest Heroes

In addition to being significantly outnumbered, the League is outmatched by Japan's finest professional heroes. Generations of pros prowl every street corner, with hundreds of potential recruits training daily to join their ranks from institutions like U.A High.

This makes it virtually impossible for League members to show their faces in public since most of them are wanted criminals. Even something as simple as owning a residence in a busy city is extremely dangerous, as local civilians are inclined to report them to the authorities.

7 Perk: Kurogiri Allowed The League To Make Swift & Convenient Escapes

Kurogiri's "Warp Gate" was perhaps the single most overpowered utility in the League's arsenal. Not only did it allow them to appear almost anywhere unexpectedly, but they could also make getaways with just as much convenience. It also had offensive utility, such as when it nearly cut All Might in half by closing in on him.

As a result, the villains were extremely difficult to pin down despite how badly they were outnumbered and managed to avoid several arrests on dangerous ventures. Unfortunately for them, Kurogiri was captured by Gran Torino a few months after the fall of All For One in Kamino.

6 Harsh Reality: Shigaraki Is Relatively Inexperienced When Compared To All For One

Tomura holds a box

After All For One's capture, the League was in desperate need of new leadership. He appointed Tomura Shigaraki to be his successor and entrusted him with the future of the organization.

However, Shigaraki is extremely inexperienced and only acted with his mentor's guidance up until that point. Should one wish to join the League, it's important to remember that its newest leader is much less seasoned than many of the heroes he intends to oppose.

5 Perk: The League Is Protected By Monstrous & Expendable Nomu

High-End Attacking Endeavor & Hawks

One of the League's greatest advantages is its ability to produce nomu. Each monstrosity is more powerful than the last, with their latest creation, High-End, nearly managing to murder Endeavor after a harrowingly close encounter.

Since the nomu can be designed to store numerous specific quirks, it's possible to tailor them with the purpose of countering specific heroes. For example, because the aberration that attacked U.A had a shock absorption ability, he was excellently equipped to take on All Might and stand a chance of winning.

4 Harsh Reality: The League's Members Are Unstable & Treacherous

The League's members don't exactly make for the most reliable acquaintances. Many of them are unstable and murderous, such as the insatiable Toga,  Dabi, and Muscular.

Perhaps the worst part of their roster is that it isn't well managed. As of recently, Hawks managed to infiltrate the organization and report his findings to his superiors. Therefore, not only are the League's members demented, their mole is bound to cause significant problems for their agenda in the immediate future.

3 Perk: The League Has Some Of The Series' Most Overpowered Quirks

Mr Compress in the 4th season of Mha

Despite their low numbers and experience, the League's members have some of the most overpowered abilities that the series has ever seen. The most immediate examples come from Shigaraki's and Mr. Compress' quirks. Both allow them to defeat adversaries with a single touch.

However, they aren't the only characters with boundless potential. Muscular was powerful enough to murder dozens of professional heroes by himself, and Twice could clone himself so efficiently that he could spawn an entire army of doppelgangers in a matter of moments. As corrupt as they might be, it's difficult to deny the villains' strength.

2 Harsh Reality: The League Constantly Has To Deal With Competition

Overhaul's Debut

The League isn't the only force in Japan's underworld that wants to make a name for itself. After the fall of All For One, Overhaul's Yakuza stepped into the light and attempted to absorb Shigaraki's group into its own.

Additionally, Re-Destro attempted to destroy the League in a populist movement intended to place power back into the hands of the nation's quirk-wielding people. Unlike the heroes, Shigaraki's forces have to compete with other evildoers just to stay afloat.

1 Perk: At One Point, All For One Could Enhance Members With New Quirks

All For One making loyal henchmen

When recalling the League's history, it's important to remember that its first leader was All For One. The organization first found traction since he could take and redistribute quirks to whoever needed them in order to make an army of loyal followers.

Before his capture, All For One easily could have offered such a luxury to the League's existing members. Demonstrating usefulness to his cause would pay unimaginably high dividends, especially if one was born without their own power or viewed the quirk they had as a deformity.
