Every shonen action series needs a brave and heroic lead, often a young man with everything to prove. The new smash-hit anime My Hero Academia introduces Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, who was born quirkless but gained One For All to open up his future as a hero. Along the way, he met many new friends and allies at UA, Japan's top heroics school.
Izuku found time for love, too, and he and the charming Ochaco Uraraka soon hit it off. They are not only great teammates in battle, but in the everyday moment in between, the sparks really fly! In just three seasons, this show has given Izuku/Ochaco fans plenty of moments to back up this popular pairing. What are some of the most adorable moments they have shared so far?
10 Their First Meeting
People say "love at first sight" for a good reason. Izuku was feeling a bit overwhelmed when he arrived at UA's doorstep, and he nearly tripped over his own feet. Luckily, Ochaco was there to keep him up with her zero-gravity quirk, and she gave him a warm welcome at the same time. It's a great way to give Izuku a break, introduce Ochaco, and demonstrate her quirk all at once. And things only got hotter from there. The best part was Izuku's incredulity about having spoken with a female student for the first time despite the fact that he didn't actually say anything.
9 I Dub Thee Deku
Izuku wasn't sure what to declare as his hero name, and Bakugo kept mocking him as "Deku," or "worthless." But, being a clever girl, Ochaco realized that "Deku" could also sound like a flattering name, and Izuku pounced on the chance to make that his hero moniker (despite Tenya Iida's doubts). Izuku looked pretty happy about it, too. A hero name is a fine gift from your favorite girl!
8 Over The Phone
Even when Izuku and Ochaco went their separate ways for their internships, they stoked the flames a bit over the phone. Not with their words, but with what came after they hung up. Despite looking scary, the pro hero Gunhead was quick to tease Ochaco about a possible "boyfriend," clearly enjoying himself while he was at it. Izuku, meanwhile, was beside himself with glee that he had a full phone conversation with a girl. Baby steps!
7 Pumped For Training Camp
All of Class 1-A is stoked to begin summer training camp, and Ochaco took the time to check if Izuku was ready, too. But she got rather up close and personal, and Izuku was cherry-red at how close Ochaco had come.
Then, of all things, Ochaco recalled Yuga Aoyama's little question: "are you in love with him?" Embarrassed, Ochaco took a few steps back and changed the subject, but it as a precious moment all the same. Even the little things can get the heart going. Let's hear it for camp, everyone!
6 A Quick Peek
Ochaco didn't come face to face with Izuku in this scene, but in the UA dorms, the other 1-A girls teased Ochaco about her mysterious crush. Ochaci wouldn't name names, but her flustered floating brought her to a nearby window through which she caught a glimpse of Izuku training hard outside. And, judging by Ochaco's sparkly reaction, she was more than a little impressed with what she saw! It's safe to say that Izuku's sheer grit is one of the things that attracts Ochaco to him. Come on, Uravity, it's time to tell us how you really feel!
5 Denying It... For Now
Aoyama ever-so-innocently asked Ochaco if she's into Izuku, and she certainly didn't answer him. Later, Ochaco joined her classmates in the test viewing room, and she was at once questioned about what Aoyama had asked her during their test. Ochaco wasn't about to spill the beans, though, especially not with Izuku right there! Her quick denial didn't fool the perceptive Tsuyu Asui, though, who is now quite sure of where Ochaco's heart truly lies.
4 Am I A Bug To You?
At Mina's suggestion, half of Class 1-A visits the local mall to pick up some new hero gear before the training camp, and at some point, Izuku and Ochaco find themselves alone for a moment. Ochaco needed some bug spray, but through a slip of the tongue (or Izuku not listening properly), Deku thought Ochaco was declaring him a simple bug! Ochaco fled in embarrassment, cursing Aoyama for putting the subject of love in the forefront of her mind. There's no turning back now!
3 First Time In Class
This was a pretty simple scene, but it acts as an adorable follow-up to Izuku and Ochaco's first meeting. They're just getting used to UA life and they're about to start their first class together as classmates. Ochaco is thrilled, being impressed with Izuku's performance in the entrance test earlier. Already, Izuku is red in the face, and there's plenty more of that to come.
2 Cavalry Partners
Ochaco really shines in this one. Not only does she help fill in Izuku's team for the cavalry event, but she makes a good point: it's wonderful to be on a team with people you like! She's so cheery and wholesome about it, it's easy to see how Izuku was brought to tears. Ochaco didn't really like his "heart squeeze" face, though.
1 First Test
Early in season 1, the students of Hero Class 1-A gather in their hero costumes for the first time, and Izuku is blown away when he sees Ochaco in hers. In fact, Ochaco's costume design is partly by accident; she ended up with a skintight costume, having failed to specify enough details on her submitted costume form. But Izuku sure likes the end result, and, unsurprisingly, so does the class mega-pervert, Minoru Mineta.
