One such character who is beloved by many and considered to be one of the best protagonists in shonen history is Izuku Midoriya. While initially coming off as a Quirkless kid who had absolutely no hope to become a superhero, he quickly evolved into an extremely powerful Hero that could take down any person in his path. So, as is the case with any shonen protagonist, there are bound to be many questions about him that have remained unanswered to this day.

10 Why Did All Might Choose Him Over Mirio?

All Might and Mirio from My Hero Academia

When Nighteye met Midoriya, he openly said that he was against the idea of a Quirkless individual inheriting One for All, and Mirio should've gotten it instead.

As a viewer, it's obvious that people would support All Might's decision of choosing Midoriya instead. That being said, it's certainly quite a questionable decision from All Might if one looks at this objectively, and it's not really all that clear why All Might really chose Midoriya all the way back then.

9 How Did He Manage To Get A Ripped Body In Just A Short Span Of Time?

All might and deku

In order to train his body to handle the physical pressure of One for All, All Might made Midoriya perform a bunch of meaningless and trivial tasks, with the ulterior motive of developing his body to withstand the pressure of One for All.

That being said, it was still quite odd to see Midoriya get so buff in such a short span of time. It's not like he was maintaining a particularly healthy diet, making his transformation all the more unbelievable.

8 How Did He Manage To Punch Shoto Without Destroying His Arm?

Even after building up his body, Midoriya had absolutely no handle on how to keep the power of One for All under control once he released it. That being said, there were still times when he used the power of One for All to punch people without obliterating his bones in the process.

The most notorious instance of this was during his fight with Shoto when he landed a direct hit with One for All while simultaneously managed to control this blast somehow. Why did these moments come only when they were conveniently required?

7 Why Didn't All Might Properly Teach Him How To Control One For All From The Get-Go?

In fact, the issues with Midoriya using One for All stem all the way back to the very moment he was given this power.

All Might was completely aware of just how much power One for All really had. Why did he not instruct Midoriya on how to control his bursts of power from the get-go, so that he wasn't helpless as a superhero?

6 How Did All Might Expect Midoriya To Pass U.A.'s Entrance Exam In The First Place?

In fact, not only did All Might not teach Midoriya how to control One for All, but he also stuck him in the U.A. Entrance Exam with full expectations that he would pass.

This was a completely ridiculous gamble from All Might with incredibly low chances of success. The fact that Midoriya managed to pass by showing his natural tendencies as a hero was a boon that helped the series progress instead of halting to a standstill at that very moment.

5 How Did No One Disprove Nighteye's Premonitions Before Midoriya?

Speaking of gambling against fate, one can't help but bring up Nighteye's premonitions, along with the fact that Midoriya was the sole person who managed to disprove them and finally make him realize the error of his rigid ways.

That being said, it's certainly quite odd that Midoriya was the only person that managed to make Nighteye see the light. It's not like Mirio or other such students didn't have the same zeal — how did they not manage to prove him wrong before Midoriya?

4 How Did Eri's Quirk Not Mess Up His Body Until After His Fight With Overhaul?

Convenience is the name of the game in most shonen anime, and this holds especially true for Midoriya during his fight with Overhaul, where he managed to reach 100% of One for All's potential with Eri's help.

However, it was only after his fight with Overhaul that Eri's Quirk went berserk and almost omitted Midoriya out of existence, forcing Aizawa to step into the picture. This is oddly convenient, and something that is hard to wrap one's head around.

3 Will Eri Be Able To Revert His Arms Back To A Point Where They Become Useful Again?

That being said, one can't deny that Eri's inclusion in the world of My Hero Academia has opened up a ton of potential for the heroes in the series.

For starters, if Eri finally manages to control her Quirk, then it's very much possible that Midoriya might be able to regain the full use of his arms to the point where he could finally harness One for All's full power into some truly devastating punches.

2 What Was The Point Of The Dream That Midoriya Had At The End Of Season 4?

one for all

The vision that Midoriya had at the end of Season 4 indicates that the past users of One for All will finally bestow upon him the means required to take another step towards mastering One for All.

Speaking of things that will develop over time, there's no denying the fact that the relationship between Bakugo and Midoriya is one of the more interesting aspects of My Hero Academia, which has certainly taken a massive step after their duel.

One can only wait and see how Season 5 will explore and expand upon this dynamic even further.
