Izuku Midoriya is the main protagonist of My Hero Academia in which he aims to become the Number One Hero and protect people from threatening Villains with a smile on his face.

Having been entrusted with One For All, one of the strongest Quirks in existence, Izuku is gradually making his way straight to the top. On his way, he's already surpassed some characters, while others are far away from his grasp right now and will probably be right until the end. Here are five My Hero Academia characters Izuku has already surpassed, and five he probably never will.

10 Has Surpassed: Gran Torino

Gran Torino is a pro Hero who is known for his excellent speed. He's quite a powerful Hero who also assisted All Might in his fight against All For One. Gran Torino may be exceptionally fast, but he isn't nearly as strong as Izuku currently is, as Deku can use 30% of One For All at all times and bring out 45% of his powers momentarily when he needs it.

9 Will Never Surpass: All Might

All Might in My Hero Academia.

All Might was the strongest known Hero in My Hero Academia and the Symbol of Peace. Before Izuku, he wielded the power known as One For All. All Might's power knew no limits, and, when the need arose, he could push beyond 100% of his powers. Even when Izuku masters One For All completely, it is highly unlikely that he'll go beyond the level of All Might.

8 Has Surpassed: Gentle Criminal

Gentle Criminal MHA

Gentle Criminal served as the main antagonist of the Cultural Festival arc of My Hero Academia, where his plans were foiled by Midoriya singlehandedly. With the powers of the Elasticity Quirk, he created quite some trouble for Midoriya.

Although Gentle was quite powerful, his skills were outclassed by Izuku Midoriya's by far. Thanks to constant training, Izuku overcame the power of Gentle and is now far stronger than he ever was.

7 Will Never Surpass: All For One

All for One in My Hero Academia.

All For One is the strongest known Villain in the story to date and the man who is known as Japan's worst criminal. With the powers of All For One at his side, he was practically unstoppable until All Might eventually put an end to him at the cost of his own powers.

Even if Izuku reaches the same level of power as All Might, surpassing All For One will prove to be quite an arduous task for him. Izuku surpassing All For One might be impossible, but he'll definitely reach the same level as him in the future.

6 Has Surpassed: Spinner

Spinner is just a fancy lizard in My Hero Academia.

Spinner is one of the members of the League of Villains and quite possibly one of their weakest. He doesn't possess any remarkable ability, and his Quirk, known as Gecko, is rather average. Spinner's level of fighting prowess was surpassed by Izuku Midoriya quite some time ago. If the two clash, it won't take Midoriya long to put the fight to bed.

5 Will Never Surpass: Shigaraki Tomura

My Hero Academia Shigaraki with head tilted.

Shigaraki Tomura is the current leader of the Paranormal Liberation Front and the strongest Villain in the story right now. As things stand, he's far stronger than Izuku Midoriya and Bakugo Katsuki combined, as confirmed by Gran Torino recently.

Shigaraki possesses the power of the Decay Quirk, along with several other powerful Quirks, including All For One. His level of strength will likely be matched up Izuku in the future, but it's nearly impossible to surpass him.

4 Has Surpassed: Mirio Togata

Mirio

Mirio is one of the members of the UA Big Three, and, until recently, he was the man known to be closest to All Might. Unfortunately, during the Shie Hassaikai arc, Mirio ended up losing his Quirk.

Right now, he's far below the level of an average pro Hero, and Izuku Midoriya, who once lagged behind him, is far ahead. In the future, Mirio could pull ahead if he gets his Quirk back.

3 Will Never Surpass: Bakugo Katsuki

Anime Deku vs bakugo Cropped

Bakugo is one of Midoriya's classmates at the UA, and, just like him, he aims to become the strongest Hero in history. Bakugo and Midoriya always progress together. Although the latter progresses quite fast, Bakugo uses that to drive himself to reach his level.

By the end of the series, it's quite easy to see that they'll both be neck and neck once again. If Midoriya is the strongest Hero, Bakugo won't fall behind him and will likely be on the same level.

2 Has Surpassed: Shinso

Taller Hitoshi Shinso from My Hero Academia.

Shinso is one of the most intriguing students in UA right now. Having recently been transferred to the Hero department, Shinso is only going to get stronger. Thanks to Aizawa's training, he's become quite powerful, indeed. However, Izuku has pulled ahead of him by a mile. Unfortunately for Shinso, that'll likely be the case forever from here on out.

1 Will Never Surpass: Nine

my hero academia nine

Nine was the antagonist of My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. He possessed multiple Quirks under his belt, just like All For One, and his powers were known to be just as great as All For One himself, if not greater.

At the end of the series, Izuku will likely be around the same level as him. However, pulling ahead is probably not going to be an easy job.
