My Hero Academia imagines a superpowered future where anything is possible with the power of supernatural abilities called Quirks. Many of the best Quirks grant their bearers elemental attacks, such as Shoto Todoroki's, while others enhance physical strength, as is the case with Rikido Sato's Quirk. Meanwhile, some heroes and supervillains are best defined by their speed.

Some heroes are definitely quicker on their feet than others, and some villains are much too fast for slower heroes to catch. Which characters in My Hero Academia have what it takes to leave everyone else in their dust?

10 Gentle Criminal Could Leap Around With Air Cushions

mha gentle criminal

The outlaw known as Gentle Criminal wasn't seeking to destroy or conquer the globe. Instead, he represents the bitterness of everyone who's not quite strong enough to be a pro hero, and he has a gentle Quirk to match. He can make things rubbery and jump right off of them.

Gentle Criminal is surprisingly agile and quick when he does this on the air itself, forming invisible trampolines that act as springboards. Gentle Criminal almost outran Izuku using these springy surfaces, even managing to keep up with Izuku's Full Cowling for a time.

9 Inasa Yoarashi Can Soar Like The Wind

Yoarashi bursting with fighting spirit in My Hero Academia.

Although the windy hero Inasa Yoarashi can do more than just move quickly, his extreme mobility is a serious asset in all three dimensions. Inasa is a wildly talented student from the Shiketsu school, and he has become Shoto Todoroki's rival.

Inasa has a wind-based Quirk. Among other things, he can lift himself high into the air and fly around to avoid enemy attacks or chase a fleeing villain. It's difficult to outrun a master of air currents.

8 Izuku Midoriya Can Run & Leap With Full Cowling

The protagonist himself, Izuku Midoriya, wasn't terribly fast when the series started. He was just a clumsy wielder of One For All, but that changed when he trained with the retired pro hero Gran Torino to better control this power.

Izuku has since learned to spread One For All's power evenly across his whole body, enhancing his legs as well as his arms. Now, Izuku can run and leap with remarkable speed, though that speed isn't his primary asset. It merely delivers him to the target.

7 Tenya Iida Is A Heroic Runner Like His Brother

tenya iida my hero academia

Tenya Iida is the class rep of class 1-A, and he is effective both at studying and at physical training. In short, Tenya is brains and brawn put together, with most of that brawn being focused in his legs thanks to his Engine Quirk. His brother Tensei has a similar Quirk but on his arms.

Tenya Iida can run at extreme speed with his Engine ability, and he can deliver powerful kicks with Recipro Burst and other techniques to bring his foes down. Iida isn't the absolute quickest student, but he's getting there.

6 Mirio Togata Can Move Fast & Hit Hard

Mirio Phasing Through The Ground With Permeation

Mirio Togata is the #1 student at U.A., and he tirelessly honed his body to reach peak physical condition. His Permeation Quirk lets him phase through any matter, but it took him a ton of determination and patience to master. Mirio is incredibly fast in combat, whether tangible or not.

Mirio's speed is the greatest among all U.A. students, even with Tenya Iida in the picture. He can easily dash and leap around the battlefield to evade enemy attacks and deliver mighty punches in return. With or without that Quirk, Mirio is tough to hit.

5 Mirko Is An Agile Rabbit-Themed Hero

mirko mha

The rabbit hero Mirko hasn't done much fighting yet in the anime, but if the manga's contents are any indication, Mirko is a melee powerhouse who's near the top of her game. Mirko made an impression when she declared that only loner heroes such as herself are strong, with team-based heroes being borderline cowards.

Mirko can back up those tough words with her actions, being a leg-oriented hero just like Tenya Iida. Like a rabbit, she can leap and run with incredible speed and pummel villains into submission with ease. She makes villains see rabbits and bunnies in a whole new light.

4 Hawks Can Soar Through The Skies With Incredible Speed

The new #2 pro hero, Hawks, is a highly mobile fighter who is most comfortable in the open air. Hawks' red wings can fire their feathers like projectiles to pelt the enemy or carry civilians to safety, or even make a sharp feather sword. On top of that, Hawks has incredible speed to match.

In battle, Hawks can soar through the air and easily avoid enemy attacks while getting into position to launch a counterattack. Even a highly-modified Nomu might struggle to catch him if he takes things seriously enough.

3 Gran Torino Can Leap Around With Dizzyng Speed

gran torino

The retired pro hero Gran Torino is past his prime, but he is far from helpless. By the time Izuku met him for training, Gran Torino was more than a match for Izuku during their mock fights. Gran Torino had his Jet Quirk to thank for it.

With the Jet ability, Gran Torino can emit intense blasts of air from the holes in his feet and propel himself rapidly across short distances, and he can bounce around the room like an accelerated pinball. Izuku had a tough time trying to catch him.

2 Stain Is A Fast & Nimble Assassin

Hero Killer: Stain from My Hero Academia crouching on top a tower, not using his Quirk, Bloodcurdle.

The hero killer, Stain, relies more on speed and trickery than brute force to win the day, though he is perfectly willing to engage heroes in one-on-one fights if he must. More than anything, Stain is an assassin, adept at tracking and ambushing pro heroes when they are alone.

Stain's fighting style utilizes three things: his bladed weaponry, his terrifying Bloodcurdle Quirk, and most importantly of all, his astonishing, lightning-quick speed. He uses these to take down his foes and overwhelm them. Stain can move faster than the eye can see, and it's a miracle that Izuku, Shoto, and Tenya survived fighting him.

1 All Might Doesn't Sacrifice Mobility For Speed

All Might vs. Nomu

Many brute-force characters emphasize their strength over speed and agility for the sake of balance, but that's not the case for the symbol of peace, All Might. It seems that All Might can truly do it all, including lightning-fast dashes.

All Might doesn't just hit hard, he can also flash right across the battlefield to reach his opponents, and he can rush across an entire city in mere seconds to reach the scene of a crime. Anytime someone cries out for help, it won't be long before All Might arrives. The villains never see him coming.
