If you’ve spent any time online looking at fan theories for My Hero Academia, then there is a good chance you’ve come across one or two theories about who the traitor is at UA. For those that don’t recall; it’s basically a given at this point that there is a traitor somewhere within the UA. This traitor could be a student, teacher, or some other kind of employee within UA. The League of Villains has simply had too much access to UA information for there not to be a traitor. Unfortunately.

But that raises the question; who exactly is the traitor? Well, even anime readers don’t know the answer to that (yet), but that hasn’t stopped the fans from theorizing. Check out below for ten of the most interesting and believable possibilities for who the traitor could be.

10 10. Present Mic

One of the more popular traitor theories out there revolves around Present Mic. And sadly, there are plenty of reasons we could suspect this character. For one thing, he has all of the necessary intel worth passing on to the League of Villains. His quirk would also allow for him to easily transmit said data.

It was Present Mic who suggested the idea of there being a traitor at UA. However, he could have been the one to suggest it in hopes of throwing people off his trail. This has worked for many fans – if you look up lists of characters that are ‘safe’ he’s made it onto several lists for this exact reason.

9 9. Yuga Aoyama

MHA Aoyama

The next potential traitor on our list is a student. Aoyama is a bit of an odd character. He seems to love attention, which is probably the reason why he joined the hero program. But in a lot of ways, he’s not emotionally up for becoming a hero. And that’s why fans suspect him.

One of the many pieces of evidence against Aoyama is the fact that nobody knows where he was when the League of Villains attacked his class that first time. Remember that, when he kept goading people into asking where he was, only to state that it’s a secret? Realistically he wouldn’t have wanted to bring this to our attention if he really was the traitor, but his absence is concerning.

8 8. Hatsume Mei

Hatsume fans are probably livid at her inclusion on this list. But you have to admit that she’s got the brains, access, and technology to pull off such a feat as being an informant to the League of Villains. We don’t know what her motivations would be for helping the League – expect perhaps sponsorship and support for creating new ‘babies.'

We don’t actually know how much information the Support class has access to. For all we know, Hatsume knows even less about plans for UA than Class 1A does. But considering how she’s helped design tools for the class, this doesn’t seem likely. So there’s a chance she has had upfront notice of everything, giving her the opportunity to pass the information along.

7 7. Shinso Hitoshi

It may seem a little stereotypical to suspect the student with the mind-controlling abilities, but to our theorists’ credit, that’s not their main concern with him. Though it is one of the concerns, of course. The bigger concern is his addition so late in the series (in the anime). Sure, it made for a great plot and generated a lot of interest. But it’s also a little bit suspect, don’t you think?

Many fans out there feel that way. There are other theories to explain this away, such as the possibility that he’s Aizawa’s son. But most fans seem content to be concerned about his late upgrade to hero class status.

6 6. Jiro Kyoka

Jiro from My hero academia

When it comes to our traitor suspect list, it seems like nobody is safe. Our next candidate is none other than Jiro. She’s fairly quiet on the whole, but her quirks would be plenty useful for gathering and send off sensitive information. Seriously, how on earth could you ever have a classified conversation with her around, and hope for it to stay quiet?

Jiro doesn’t seem like the most likely candidate. But in a way that has us more concerned about the possibility. After all, the best spies are the ones that blend in, right?

5 5. Principal Nezu

Principal Nezu in My Hero Academia

Principal Nezu is lower on the suspect list for many fans, but that doesn’t diminish his potential threat any. Principal Nezu has taken multiple opportunities now to talk about how amazingly brilliant he is. During final exams, he even pointed out his ability to see so many steps ahead of his opponent. Are we really supposed to believe that he hasn’t figured out who the traitor is?

Nezu has complete access to all information pertinent to UA. Obviously, he knew what students would be sent where and when. Plus he had advance notice on All Might joining the school. The one downside to this theory is that the League of Villains didn’t seem to have any intel on All Might’s smaller form – a fact that Nezu was obviously well aware of.

4 4. Monoma Nieto

Monoma hasn’t done a great job of making friends – or fans – for himself. So it’s easy to picture him as the traitor. But the theory goes deeper than you might think. We don’t know a ton about this character (other than his personality…which is off-putting enough) but we do know a few very important bits of information.

Let’s start with Monoma’s quirk. He’s got the ability to mimic any quirk he’s been around recently. Seems pretty cool, but the more you think about it, the more disturbing it gets. His quirk, while not an exact match, is a little too similar to All For One than we would like. What are the odds that these two are related?

If Monoma is All For One’s son, then obviously there’s a good chance that he is also an informant. Granted, we’re not sure how he would have gotten some of the intel that was passed on to the League of Villains. Though he could have gleaned it with a borrowed quirk or two.

3 3. Aizawa

Shota Aizawa using his Erasure Quirk (My Hero Academia).

One of the craziest fan theories out there has to do with Aizawa. And don’t worry, this one isn’t saying that the UA instructor has been actively working against his students. No, this is much worse. Remember during that first League of Villains attack on the students? How Aizawa threw himself at the enemy without hesitation, but as a result got pretty badly injured? So injured, in fact, that Recovery Girl hinted at a diminished quirk as a result.

But that didn’t seem to be the case. Sure, Aizawa seems to have slightly redder eyes. And he can’t seem to use the quirk for as long. But that’s about it. Fans are concerned that this all means that the Aizawa we’ve seen since that fight is not the real Aizawa.

Yes, you read that right. We’ve already seen a couple different quirks out there that would allow for somebody to perfectly mimic a character. As well as ways to steal and transplant quirks. Little scary when you look at it that way, isn’t it?

2 2. Toru Hagakure

Toru is one of those interesting characters, in that we don’t know a whole lot about her. She’s invisibly, obviously. And that seems to be an element of her quirk that she can’t turn off. And she seems to have a super bubbly and girly personality…but that’s about all we know about her.

Fans are concerned that she may be the traitor. She’s proven before that she can move around silently, which given her invisibly state would allow her to spy without a problem. Some fans have gone so far as to even accuse her of lying during the first League of Villains attack. After all, how do we know she was where she said she was? Todoroki was too busy being relieved that he didn’t freeze her to think too much about the odds of her actually being nearby.

1 1. Denki Kaminari

Most fans seem to agree on one thing: Kaminari is the most likely candidate for being the traitor among UA. His quirk allows him to send and receive transmissions. But conveniently he couldn’t get a message out while the League of Villains attacked. And it seems a little too easy to have him be as…goofy as he wants everyone to think he is.

To make matters worse, fans managed to get their hands on an original design of Kaminari. His appearance originally looked a whole lot more sinister. Fans believe that he was changed to the goofball we all know him as, to make the revelation more shocking (no pun intended) when it finally occurred.
