In the My Hero Academia universe, some superheroes need more than their fancy Quirks to fight a villain and hope to win. Heroes need physical training and martial arts to beat down the villains, and heroes such as All Might and Gran Torino are well known for their close-quarters fighting style. Many class 1-A students fight like that, too.

A superhero's strength can be measured in other ways too, such as sheer speed and mobility. Some heroes stay still while they fight, and others are always running, leaping, or even flying during a fight to make themselves a difficult target to hit. Who are the fastest students in class 1-A, based on how fast they can move their bodies during combat?

10 Ochaco Uraraka, Who Learned CQC

Ochaco Uraraka my hero academia

Ochaco Uraraka is the gravity girl of class 1-A, and she has a support-oriented Quirk that can render a person or object weightless, then bring them crashing back down to the earth. She combos well with Tsuyu Asui, who can fling weightless objects into the air with her tongue.

As for speed, Ochaco isn't terribly fast, but she did learn some crafty moves from the pro hero Gun Head. Ochaco can dodge knife attacks and throw her attacker to the ground, and it takes some quick moves to pull that off. And it worked; Ochaco briefly got the edge on Himiko Toga during their first fight.

9 Mashirao Ojiro, Who Has A Tail

Anime My Hero Academia Anime Mashirao Ojiro Tail

Although Mashirao is likely among the weakest students of his entire grade, he does have a remarkable fighting style. He has a strong, prehensile tail, and it can be used either to strike his enemies, or to swing around, just like a monkey.

Mashirao is a melee-oriented hero, and he relies on agility and maneuverability to engage villains up close. His movement speed is adequate for his fighting style, though class 1-A includes even quicker students than him.

8 Katsuki Bakugo, The Human Rocket

My Hero Academia _ Katsuki Bakugo with an evil grin

Katsuki Bakugo has an explosive temper to match his Quirk, but he's not all brawn and no brains. He is a crafty hero, just like his rival Izuku Midoriya, and he realized that he can use his Explosion Quirk for more than sheer offense.

Bakugo can point his palms behind him and set off constant, small-scale explosions to propel him through the air, like a rocket. Bakugo isn't moving at blinding speed when he does this, but it's faster than if he simply ran on the ground.

7 Rikido Sato, The Sugar Hero

The gentle giant of class 1-A is Rikido Sato, a kind boy who would rather work out and bake pastries than hurt someone. But when a villain shows up, he'll ingest a bunch of sugar in one go, then power up with his Sugar Rush Quirk.

Sato's energy is mainly directed toward hitting power, but he also becomes rather quick, and he can push off the ground and leap toward his opponent with remarkable speed while his Sugar Rush Quirk is still in effect. He can close the distance to his enemy in no time, so long as the sugar stays in effect.

6 Tsuyu Asui, The Froggy Hero

Tsuyu Asui has strong legs like a frog, and indeed, she can leap and cover large distances to keep herself mobile during a fight. Tsuyu can dodge enemy attacks by leaping off of walls or the floor, and she is also a quick swimmer. Water is definitely favorable for Froppy.

Tsuyu isn't the quickest student in her class, but still, she can be a tough target to hit when she's leaping around on those frog legs of hers. In short bursts, this speed can easily keep her safe when villains are opening fire on her.

5 Minoru Mineta, The Jumping Hero

Minoru Mineta has underwhelming physical strength, but his Quirk, Pop Off, is surprisingly useful, which makes up for his unimpressive physical stats. Minoru often uses those sticky spheres to bind people and objects together, but they won't stick to his own body.

Instead, Minoru can jump right off his spheres if they are on the ground, using them as tiny trampolines to leap forward. He can cover a lot of ground doing this; in fact, he took Shoto Todoroki by surprise when he caught up to the latter by using this method.

4 Shoto Todoroki, The Ice Hero

Shoto fails his exams on My Hero Academia

Shoto primarily uses the ice half of his Quirk, and his chilly powers can be useful either on offense or defense. He can make barriers to block his enemy's attacks, and he can create smooth, slick icy surfaces and then skate around on them.

Shoto did this during the U.A. sports festival, and he obtained a huge lead on the rest of his fellow students. Shoto also used this method during an entrance exam, narrowly beating Inasa Yoarashi (who was using his Whirlwind Quirk to propel himself).

3 Mina Ashido, The Dancing Hero

Mina Ashido is a graceful and talented dancer, and she quickly realized that these talents can aid her in battle. Mina's Quirk works best at medium range, but she doesn't have to hold still while pelting the target with handfuls of acid. She can really move.

Often, Mina will create streaks of acid on the ground, then slide around on them and change directions on a dime. This method grants her impressive speed and maneuverability, allowing her to dodge each shot of Yuga Aoyama's Navel Laser Quirk.

2 Izuku Midoriya, The Quirkless Boy Who Could

Izuku's upgraded costume in My Hero Academia.

Izuku was born Quirkless, but All Might saw potential in him, and Izuku trained hard for one year to gain the physique necessary to handle One For All. Now, Izuku can greatly enhance his power and speed alike with that Quirk.

Now that Izuku can use the Full Cowling technique, he can leap around in the same fashion as Gran Torino, and he's rather precise about it, too. Izuku impressed Sir Nighteye, a pro hero, by leaping around the office while avoiding putting his feet on any All Might posters. Izuku is one tough target to hit.

1 Tenya Iida, The Runner Hero

Iida, My Hero Academia

It's only natural that a dedicated runner is the physically fastest hero in class 1-A. Tenya Iida, also known as Ingenium, also boasts a sharp mind and diligent study habits that keep him in the running (so to speak) as a great hero. He's on the fast track to success.

Iida's Quirk manifests as engines in his calves, and when Engine is activated, Iida can move with astonishing speed and cover a lot of ground, just like his brother Tensei. Iida can also use his sheer momentum to deliver powerful kicks, the  Recipro Burst technique.
