My Hero Academia's next generation is filled with characters who show a lot of promise. From the Hero aspirants in U.A to the Villains at the Paranormal Liberation Front, there are characters from the next generation vying to surpass those of the old.

Midoriya Izuku, the current holder of One For All, is one such character and he's been entrusted to become the next Symbol of Peace by All Might himself. However, there are those who possess the potential to go beyond our protagonist if he slacks off too much. Although some students have the potential to reach heights that have barely ever been reached by anyone, others are, simply put, average. Here are 5 characters from My Hero Academia with more potential than Midoriya Izuku and 5 that are average.

10 More Potential: Shoto Todoroki

shoto todoroki

Shoto Todoroki is the son of Endeavor and one of the brightest students at U.A currently. Said to hold the potential to go beyond even All Might, Todoroki is quite an interesting guy with an ability that's too good to be true.

He wields the power of the Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk which allows him to manipulate both fire and ice, giving him the window to break through the wall that stood in his father's way. Shoto is aiming to become a great Hero, just like Midoriya, and he certainly possesses talent greater than Midoriya's.

9 Average: Tenya Iida

ingenium tensei iida

Iida is the representative of Class 1-A at U.A and it goes without saying that he's fairly good at most of the stuff that he does. His decision making, in particular, is what makes him so special.

When it comes to fighting capabilities, however, Iida is certainly not a match for Midoriya Izuku. There's no doubt that he'll become a great Hero, but expecting him to break into the Top 5 Hero Rankings in the future would be preposterous. Nonetheless, Iida will make a great name for himself as Ingenium, but that's about it.

8 More Potential: Katsuki Bakugou

One of the very few students in My Hero Academia capable of matching Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugou is also from U.A's Class 1-A. Not only does he match Midoriya in every way possible but he makes sure to stay one step ahead all the time.

If there's someone who has more talent than Midoriya, it is certainly Katsuki Bakugou. Like Deku, he too is aiming for the spot of the Number 1 Hero and hopes to take that position by beating everyone else to it.

7 Average: Itsuka Kendo

Itsuka Kendo in My Hero Academia.

Class 1-B's Itsuka Kendo is one of the few students who strike the fans as average. She possesses the ability to gigantify her arms at will, making it hard for her foes to trade blows with her.

She's certainly not bad at what she does, but she's not incredible either. In Class 1-B, she isn't the one who stands at the top, let alone be the one who could rival Midoriya. That's not to say that Kendo is useless however, as her abilities will see to it that she becomes a great Hero in the future.

6 More Potential: Mirio Togata

One of the U.A Big Three, Mirio Togata is someone who is already comparable to the likes of Endeavor and Hawks. Even though he's still a student, Mirio is said to be the man closest to All Might.

Prior to losing his Quirk, he certainly appeared to possess limitless potential, and the fact that he never stopped training and improving himself meant that it was nearly impossible to stop him. For now, Mirio may have fallen behind everyone else, but he'll definitely be back and aim for the spot of Number One Hero, possibly stealing it from right under the nose of our protagonist, Izuku Midoriya.

5 Average: Minoru Mineta

Mineta is quite possibly the weakest student in Class 1-A and he is what you would call an average Hero aspirant. Knowing his limits, Mineta certainly doesn't aim to scale the top either. Instead, he knows what he's capable of and works accordingly.

His powers allow him to produce sticky balls from his scalp that can stick to anything. As evident from that, it definitely isn't a mind-blowing power, and certainly not one comparable to Midoriya's One For All. We like to think his capabilities fall short of being recognized as a fantastic student, and we're sure a lot of you feel the same way about him.

4 More Potential: Shigaraki Tomura

Shigaraki Tomura is the leader of the Paranormal Liberation Front and the man who All For One entrusted with everything. Currently, he is also one of the strongest characters in the My Hero Academia series, surpassing the likes of Midoriya, Bakugo, and even Todoroki.

Shigaraki's Quirk, known as Decay, allows him to disintegrate anything he touches with his hands. After reawakening his ability, he's even stronger and now, he barely even needs to touch the other person to make his powers work. The fact that he easily defeated Re-Destro is enough to justify that he has more talent than Midoriya. If Deku is to catch up to him, he certainly has to work harder than he is now.

3 Average: Toru Hagakure

Toru Hagakure, also known as Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl, is a student of U.A's Class 1-A. Although she's got quite an interesting ability that makes her invisible to the eye, she has barely ever featured in an important arc.

Toru's ability may be useful, but her skills are largely unknown and she certainly isn't one of the top dogs of Class 1-A. Everything about her is under the wraps so far, with some theories even hinting at her being the mole in U.A.

2 More Potential: All For One

All For One is one of the strongest people in the world of My Hero Academia. He is someone worthy of rivaling All Might in a fight and even pushing him beyond his 100%.

All For One's Quirk is also called All For One and it lets him steal and stockpile the Quirks of other people. He can also distribute the Quirks among his subordinates and make them stronger. He is able to use multiple Quirks himself, which is what makes him one of the strongest people out there.

1 Average: Spinner

Spinner is just a fancy lizard in My Hero Academia.

Spinner is one of the members of the League of Villains, and it is easy to see that he's one of their average ones. Although he does look like a strong person, he has never shown any special power that would make fans think highly of him.

His Quirk is pretty much useless, and probably the weakest one in the entire My Hero Academia series. We do hope that he proves his worth to the fans in the future, but for now, there is absolutely nothing special about him.
