The following contains major spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 367, "Deku vs All For One" by Horikoshi Kohei, Caleb Cook, and John Hunt, available now in English from Viz Media.

Kohei Horikoshi decided to honor the My Hero Academia anime with his color spread for Chapter 367, "Deku vs All For One." He drew some of the principal characters of Season 6 getting together for a watch party, including a few villains. There are snacks and drinks and everybody is dressed casually. It looks like a good time all around.

What's funny about all of this is how contradictory it is to everything that's happened in the manga since what will be the start of Season 6. The story has taken a dark turn, some of these characters have experienced either major character arcs or severe physical trauma, and one of them is even dead. For manga readers, this color page is a refreshing throwback to simpler times for MHA. With all that in mind, here's a look at the characters in this picture and where the events of Season 6 onwards took them.

Eijirō Kirishima got a pretty cool moment in what will be Season 6. He's the one who successfully threw a sedative into Gigantomachia's mouth. However, he's also one of the ones who was hit the hardest by Midnight's death, along with Mina Ashido. The last anyone saw of them, they found the villain who killed her and they were getting ready to fight.

Denki Kaminari also got a neat moment. Despite his fears of fighting on the front lines, he was comforted by the thought of people he cares about, especially Kyōka Jirō. Unfortunately, the final battle simply has him as a power source for the airborne UA High.

Minoru Mineta didn't have a lot to do either, but he did get a moment in the Tartarus Escapee Arc that caused a stir among the fandom. While Class 1-A was trying to wrangle Deku and stop his self-destructive heroism, each of them tried to explain how important he was to them. Mineta admitted to a form of admiration for Deku, which some fans interpreted as him coming out as bisexual; many readers argued about how to interpret his lines. However, not much has definitively changed for him.

This is where the real trauma starts coming into play, starting with Deku. After failing to stop Shigaraki, despite his best efforts, he needed to reevaluate his goals and what it meant to save someone. Again, the conclusions he drew for himself led him down a path of self-destruction. It took the combined efforts of the rest of his classmates to stop him from burning himself out physically and mentally.

Hawks and Twice on the cover of My Hero Academia volume 27.

Twice is sort of an elephant in the room as he's going to die in Season 6. Hawks was forced to kill him to prevent him from hurting more people, despite all of the trust the villain put into him. Dabi avenged Twice by nearly burning Hawks to death, but Tokoyami saved him. Now, what's left of Hawks' wings needs to be supplemented by prosthetics.

As for Dabi, he finally revealed himself to be Endeavor's eldest son Tōya, who was previously thought to be dead. This reveal defamed the Flame Hero and cost Pros in general the public's trust. Now, Shōto Todoroki is determined to save Tōya and stop him from burning to death with his own Quirk.

Himiko Toga, worried for her life after finding out what happened to Twice, sought out Ochako Uraraka to learn how far she was willing to go to stop her. Ochako told her things like how she had to live with the consequences of her crimes and that she'd do what was necessary to stop her. Himiko, who considered Ochako a friend and firmly believed she had a right to her way of life, was greatly saddened by this answer. After getting a similar answer from Deku, she concluded that Heroes don't have her best interests in mind and washed her hands of them.

As for Ochako, she's looking for the right way to deal with Himiko. She considered stowing away her personal feelings on the matter, but after a talk with Deku, they each resolved to stop their designated villains in their own way. Thus, Ochako has steeled herself and is now determined to do what she believes is right, whatever that entails.

Another big change to keep in mind for these characters is their physical trauma. Shota Aizawa, after fighting Shigaraki, ended up with a missing eye and leg. He can't even use his Erasure Quirk properly anymore.

Mirko has the worst physical trauma save for maybe Twice's death and Hawks' incineration. She's currently missing both arms, both legs, and a sizeable chunk of her left ear; she lost all of them in her efforts to stop Shigaraki. Chapter 367 even has a panel of her stumpy, unconscious body as if to emphasize how bad things have gotten for her. At the very least, she takes solace in knowing that she's living life to the fullest.

Taking all of the changes that have happened in the manga gives new meaning to Chapter 367's color page. It makes it odd to see Hawks, Dabi, and Twice all on a couch together. It's also a relief to see Hawks, Aizawa, and especially Mirko in one piece again. Seeing these characters all happy and lively again is a refreshing contrast to the grim turn the story has taken.
