An anime about a world filled with superheroes who attend a superhero high school is definitely bound to have many different and interesting characters. While not all the characters who make an appearance in My Hero Academia are important enough to be main characters, there are some who are unique and special in their own right.

Bubble Girl was introduced at the end of the third season of My Hero Academia and chapter 124 of the manga and quickly made waves. The fan-inspired character experienced some initial controversy regarding her age and the revealing nature of her costume, but still went on to become largely adored and cosplayed by fans. While there is not a lot of information about Bubble Girl, what is known about her makes her all the more special.

10 Bubble Girl Is A Taurus

In most anime, it is not uncommon for creators to add birthdates and zodiac signs in order to further develop a character, even side ones. My Hero Academia is no different. Bubble Girl, who's real name is Kaoruko Awata, was born on April 23rd, making her a Taurus.

Tauruses are known for their trustworthiness and ambitious nature. They work very hard and aren't easily ruffled. Bubble Girl is the same and that is evident by the fact that she was Sir Nighteye's sidekick. She was strong enough to work alongside him and also deal with his tickling.

9 She Went Through An Age Change

Like a lot of anime characters, Bubble Girl went through some changes before her final character was set. Originally designed by a contest winner, Bubble Girl was slated to be 16 and a UA student. However, she was upgraded to the age of 21 and made a pro-hero.

While some believed that she was aged up to negate the controversy surrounding how much skin her costume shows, on her manga character page, creator Kohei Horikoshi stated that it was done in order to make the winning design belong to a major character instead of a minor one— so Bubble Girl was made a pro-hero instead of a student.

8 She Was Jealous of Mirio

There is no denying that Mirio of the Big Three was a star. He caught the attention of Sir Nighteye, All Might's biggest fan, who believed Mirio should be the one to inherit One For All. As a result, Sir Nighteye takes Mirio under his wing for his internship.

Working alongside Sir Nighteye and Bubble Girl so closely, Mirio often saved Bubble Girl from the tickle machine. Bubble Girl admits that she is jealous of Mirio for how much Sir Nighteye admires him.

7 Her Bubbles Have Different Smells

As suggested by her name, Bubble Girl's Quirk is that of producing bubbles. While bubbles on their own may not seem that menacing, Bubble Girl's bubbles contain odors that she has smelled before. She is therefore able to produce both sweet- and foul-smelling bubbles.

Another interesting part of her bubble Quirk is that the bubbles seem to be connected to her emotions. When Bubble Girl is nervous, her bubbles contain bad smells and quickly self-destruct.

6 She Inherits The Agency

While being Sir Nighteye's sidekick, Bubble Girl had many responsibilities within the agency. She fought alongside Sir Nighteye and conducted important research in the upcoming cases they were handling, like the raid of Shie Hassaikai. She also helped with Mirio and Deku's internship, when she was not being subjected to the Tickle Machine.

With Sir Nighteye's unfortunate passing, Bubble Girl, alongside Centipeder, takes over Sir Nighteye's agency. They realize they have a lot of paperwork to do because they didn't realize just how much Sir Nighteye did.

5 Her Original Design Was Intended To Make Her Look Like Soap/Soap Bubbles

Bubble Girl Original Design versus Anime Design

As mentioned, the concept for Bubble Girl was created by a fan for a contest on the Pixiv website. In their entry, the artist drew Bubble Girl with shiny blue skin, appearing translucent. The bubbles drawn with the character also look like soap bubbles, with different color/light reflection.

While Horikoshi did not include this soapy appearance in Bubble Girl's final design, he did include on her introduction splash page that her favorite activity is bathing, which pays tribute to the original design's soap-based theme.

4 Her Name Says A Lot About Her

It is not uncommon in anime for character's names to include hidden gems on who they are or what their powers are, and Bubble Girl's real name, Kaoruko Awata, does just that.

For her first name, kanji for the first part "kaoru" means fragrance and the kanji for the last part "ko" can mean child or small. It is suggested that the winner of the contest chose "ko" because the character was in high school. Bubble Girl's last name is made up of the kanji for bubble "awa" and ta for "field." Altogether, the name has taken the meaning of "a small field of bubbles."

3 As A Student, She Would Have Been Friends With Tsuyu

In the artist's original design of Bubble Girl which depicted her as a 16-year-old UA student, they noted that Bubble Girl "admires Tsuyu-san who can give calm and collected judgment."

Since Bubble Girl was officially made a pro-hero and not a student, fans won't get to see her as best friends with Tsuyu. It is not hard to imagine Bubble Girl and Tsuyu interacting and working together. Their two Quirks combined would have made for some great teamwork.

2 Her Strongest Stat Is Her Technique

Bubble Girl only had a few moments in the anime and manga to show off her battle skills. Her skills were key in the Shie Kassaikai raid when fighting the lower level villains to allow for the stronger characters to find Eri. Bubble Girl is seen using physical combat combined with her quirk to fight.

According to the Ultra Analysis Book, which only a few fans have managed to get their hands on, Bubble Girl's real skills lie within her technique, scoring 4/6; and her intelligence, scoring 3/6. This was made evident in her research for the Shie Kassaikai raid.

1 She's Secretly Funny

Although Bubble Girl's screen time was short, it was easy to see with her interactions with Mirio, Deku, Sir Nighteye, and the others that she had comedic moments. Her conversations with Mirio highlight her playful side and even though she fell victim to the tickle machine, she took it in stride.

While her funny nature was not really displayed to its full potential, it must exist simply based on the fact that Sir Nighteye did not respect people who could not make him laugh. So much so that this was a requirement of his to work with him. Fans may not ever get to see what Bubble Girl did to make Sir Nighteye laugh, they know for certain she did it.
