Tsunagu Hakamada, better known as Fiber Hero: Best Jeanist, is an extremely powerful pro-hero in My Hero Academia. Starting at rank four, behind Hawks, Endeavor, and All Might, he is presently the Number Three pro-hero. For someone with a complicated Quirk like his, it's clear that it has taken him years to achieve the level of mastery required to be a significant powerhouse in Japan.

For the most part, Best Jeanist doesn't appreciate people who are uncouth or refuse to live up to social expectations because he strongly maintains that being a hero requires a lot more than just being strong. In fact, this is why he exhibits no hesitation when All For One's actions threaten the lives of his friends, a heroic act for which he pays a very dear price.

Although Best Jeanist, Mt. Lady, and Gang Orca manage to restrain the Nomu, they quickly encounter an undefeatable adversary, All For One himself. He employs his Fiber Quirk against the villain, which would honestly have worked against anyone else, but fails here.

All For One then claims that he is not interested in stealing his Quirk, given its complexity of usage, but does severely injure the Pro-Hero before he gets distracted by All Might. Best Jeanist survives, but only reappears much later in the manga.

9 Has He Recovered From His Battle Against All For One?

Best Jeanist clashes with All For One and is defeated

Technically speaking, Best Jeanist got off easy on both the Quirk and the life fronts because most heroes tend to lose both against All For One. However, he leaves on an extended sabbatical of sorts, which is used by Hawks to trick the League of Villains into thinking that he has died.

It is later revealed that Best Jeanist has unfortunately lost one of his lungs in the battle, and the damage is so intense that Recovery Girl is unable to fix it, let alone standard medicine.

8 Has His Outfit Changed?

Best Jeanist stands at 6'3'', one of the tallest pro-heroes, and a large part of this height is due to his elongated neck. As such, he covers himself with denim from nose to toe, presumably hiding the lower half of his face for aesthetic purposes.

Best Jeanist's hero outfit top extends into an enormous collar (which has a belt around it for some reason). When he returns to action in the Paranormal Liberation War, the blue of his denim is a lot deeper than earlier.

7 Does He Have Sidekicks?

The short answer to this question is: yes, Best Jeanist has sidekicks who work along with him at the Genius Office. However, their identities are unknown, except that he has at least five of them — a young teenager in casual clothing, a man with an Ingenium-like mask, and three other undecipherable appearances.

Bakugo meets with them during his stint as an intern for Best Jeanist, but they are clearly not considered important enough to be told about the reason behind their mentor's disappearance.

6 How Powerful Is He?

Best Jeanist saves the day in My Hero Academia.

As the third ranked pro-hero in the country, there's no doubt that Best Jeanist is extremely strong in all aspects of his job. In conjunction with his spectacular Quirk, he displays power that nearly rivals that of Hawks and Endeavor.

For instance, he not only survives All For One but successfully takes down the likes of Gigantomachia (and keeps him floored for a considerable duration). Further, Best Jeanist has proven his combat versatility on many occasions, such as when he defeats six villains all by himself.

5 How Does His Quirk Work?

Best Jeanist's Quirk, known as Fiber Master, is exceptionally potent, but only in his highly experienced and disciplined hands (explaining why All For One rejected it). He wields a psychokinetic force over everything composed of fibers, which is basically all kinds of cloth.

Interestingly, Best Jeanist can also manipulate strange varieties of material, such as carbon fiber, which is impressive to say the least. For the most part, though, he only uses threads from his hero outfit.

4 Does His Quirk Have Limitations?

As with any other Quirk, Best Jeanist also has a few disadvantages of his own: one of them is the type of clothing being controlled, as he can effortlessly operate on denim, but suede (or sweats) are considerably more difficult.

Another restraint imposed on Fiber Master is based on the quantity of usable textiles in the environment, as well as the sheer amount of focus required to maintain his elaborate tapestries of offense and defense.

3 Does He Get Through To Bakugo?

Best Jeanist offers Bakugo a chance at an internship with him, planning to knock the boy's ego down a few pegs post his victory in the UA tournament. Obviously, this doesn't seem to work, because his student is far too aggressive to let sense seep into his head.

Nevertheless, after Best Jeanist's triumphant comeback, Bakugo informs him that he has taken his words to heart, especially regarding what hero name he should choose for himself. Of course, he goes with Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, which his mentor promptly calls "childish."

2 What Are His Super Moves?

Best Jeanist has shown a single Super Move to date, but it's certain that a hero of his level has a lot more up his sleeve. During the Paranormal Liberation War, he employs Blackout Bind on Mr. Compress, Spinner, as well as Tomura Shigaraki, in which he wraps around their throats with carbon fibers.

He then proceeds to gently asphyxiate them until they are rendered senseless. It's amazing that he can pull off a feat on supremely powerful combatants without causing permanent damage.

1 What's The Meaning Behind His Name?

Best Jeanist's civilian name, Tsunagu Hakamada, includes 袴, which refers to a "man's formal divided skirt" in traditional Japan. The kanji 維, on the other hand, could mean a variety of things, from "binding together" to "preserving" to "protecting."

In both cases, the terms pertain to the character's Quirk, given that it's related to anything fabric-based. His hero name, Fiber Hero: Best Jeanist, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired.
