After My Hero Academia fifth season finale, fans are waiting with bated breath for the deadliest confrontations between the heroes and the villains – the war with the Paranormal Liberation Front. Manga readers may already be aware that the PLF has a lot of unpleasant surprises prepared for Izuku Midoriya and his allies. While there are many vicious villains ready to attack, starting with the leader of the PLF, Tomura Shigaraki, one cannot forget about the most important weapon at the League of Villains' disposal, the nomu.

The horrible creatures are monstrosities created out of dead bodies, capable of using more than one Quirk at a horrible price. Viewers have already been introduced to a High-End Nomu during his confrontation with Endeavor, the creature identified as Hood. Upcoming battles will be even bloodier and more dangerous than the Flame Hero's stand against the creature. Many Avengers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be capable of handling a High-End Nomu, though others wouldn't fare well.

10 Could Defeat: Scarlet Witch Could Warp A Nomu's Nature With A Single Thought

Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch in Wandavision

Nomu are notorious for their immense strength and regeneration abilities. They can even regenerate burned cells like Hood does in his battle with Endeavor, but the power Scarlet Witch wields far outclasses the Flame Hero's pyrokinesis. She can manipulate reality itself. She could twist the nature of a nomu with a single thought and make it obey her. Wanda's telekinesis has been shown as powerful enough to almost defeat the Mad Titan, so it is very likely that she could rip the creature apart if she so desired.

9 Couldn't Defeat: Black Widow Couldn't Even Get Close To A High End

black widow

One of the world's most skilled spies and assassins, Natasha Romanoff has more than proven her worth as an Avenger and fighter, but when it comes to a High-End, she would fall short. Any attempt Black Widow may make to defeat such a creature would end as poorly as her rush toward Thanos did. Her favorite weapon, the Widow's Bite, may be lethal to a human, but it would barely sting a High-End. All the martial arts in the world couldn't save her if she were to face the monstrous creations of Doctor Kyudai Garaki.

8 Could Defeat: Captain Marvel Is Strong Enough To Shove Infinity Ultron Into The Core Of A Planet

captain marvel

With the gradual withdrawal of the original Avengers from the MCU, newer heroes have appeared to take their place. One of the most powerful is easily Captain Marvel. Originally a pilot involved with Project PEGASUS, Carol Danvers comes in contact with the energies of the Tesseract.

After absorbing its powers, she gains a hybrid physiology that gives her the ability to manipulate energy. When she goes into Binary mode, Captain Marvel is almost indestructible, and in Marvel's What If...?, she even shoves Infinity Ultron into the core of Xandar. Her photon blasts would probably obliterate a High-End much too quickly for it to regenerate.

7 Couldn't Defeat: Hawkeye Wouldn't Get The Chance To Shoot Enough Arrows

Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in The Avengers (2012)

To say that the MCU hasn't done Hawkeye justice would be the understatement of the century. Both his character arc and his abilities as a hero weren't dealt with in an appropriate manner and Clint Barton is set to be replaced by the younger Kate Bishop after a less-than-ideal career in the Avengers.

Even if that hadn't been the case –even if Hawkeye had been at the peak of his abilities – with his full skill set on display, he still wouldn't have been able to defeat a High End. Projectiles can't do much against a creature with that kind of regeneration power, and a nomu would have likely spotted the sniper very quickly. Considering a High-End's remarkable speed and strength, it's safe to say that Hawkeye would die in minutes before he could pass his title onto Kate.

6 Could Defeat: Iron Man Can Easily Detect A Nomu's Weak Points

Iron-Man-Endgame

Tony Stark doesn't have any superpowers, but he doesn't really need them. His intelligence is his weapon, and his armors are powerful enough to make Thanos bleed. Even earlier models of Iron Man are lethal, but the Mark 50 and Mark 85 contain enough rough power to obliterate such a High-End.

The repulsor technology concentrated in the unibeam is incredibly strong, perhaps more than Endeavor's Hellflame. If blasts alone aren't enough, Tony is always prepared with other options, including micro-missile launchers and liquid nitrogen cannons. Iron Man also has an army of drones on standby, monitored by the EDITH program. Using the suit, he could easily pinpoint the nomu's weak points and take out the threat.

5 Couldn't Defeat: Captain America's Fighting Style Is A Poor Match For A Nomu

Captain America Avengers Infinity War Chris Evans

Captain America is a very powerful Avenger and he's performed magnificent feats of strength, even standing up to Thanos on one notable occasion. Unfortunately, his fighting style heavily rotates on blunt trauma, which is a poor match for a nomu. As evidenced by All Might's first confrontation with a nomu, it is very difficult to defeat such a creature while relying on kicks, punches, or other physical moves. Even assuming Steve could rip the Nomu's limbs off, it wouldn't be enough.

Captain America could never be as thorough or destructive as the Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, or even Iron Man. Hood has even self-decapitated in the battle with Endeavor to avoid being defeated and ended up regenerating from the injury. Unlike other Avengers, Steve does have a chance, if only because of his sheer determination. But his potential win is very questionable and relies heavily on the nomu he's fighting.

4 Could Defeat: Doctor Strange's Magic Would Be Too Much For A Nomu To Handle

doctor strange

From his very first appearance in his origin film, Stephen Strange has proven himself to be an unexpected powerhouse. His abilities aren't quite as straightforward as Carol's, but prior to the destruction of the Time Stone, Doctor Strange could have used it to simply rewind the nomu into its original parts. Even without the Stone at his disposal, Stephen remains incredibly powerful.

While his energy blasts may not be enough to take a nomu out, his portals alone could keep a nomu falling for eternity and his access to the Mirror Dimension would create a perfect prison for the nomu. Some of Doctor Strange's more elaborate spells are also capable to affect reality itself, much like Scarlet Witch does, so he may also be capable of taking a nomu out in this way.

3 Couldn't Defeat: Sam Wilson Would Lose His Wings In Less Than A Minute

Sam Wilson in his Captain America gear

The newest Captain America, Sam Wilson shines most when he's in the air, using his Falcon wings to overwhelm and outmatch his opponents. He has recently also become adept in using the vibranium shield, and his jetpack and additional technology give him an added boost of strength when he needs to lift something heavy. Sam's new style has proven to be very efficient in his fight against the Flag Smashers and John Walker, but it wouldn't do much against a nomu and he'd probably lose his wings in less than a minute.

2 Could Defeat: Vision's Immense Potential For Destruction Would Make The Nomu An Easy Target

Vision Gets A New Body In Avengers Age of Ultron

Vision hasn't truly had the chance to prove his worth as an Avenger in the MCU. His appearance in What If...? changes everything, revealing just how dangerous he could be. In Vision's body, Ultron easily manages to take out Thanos with a single blow from the Mind Stone.

While Vision himself may not be quite so powerful, it's still safe to say that his potential for destruction would make the nomu an easy target. His vibranium body would make him impossible to take out and his genius intellect would give him a huge edge over the creature.

1 Couldn't Defeat: Black Panther's Claws May Not Be Enough For This Particular Challenge

Black Panther as he appears in the MCU.

Much like Captain America, Black Panther relies on a hand-to-hand combat when fighting his opponents. He and Steve are more or less evenly matched, but T'Challa has the advantage of additional vibranium technology which can always come in handy. Despite his speed, strength, and intellect, the Black Panther still wouldn't be able to handle this particular challenge.
