The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 6, Episode 12, "Threads of Hope", now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu.

One of My Hero Academia’s biggest bombshells was the revelation that Deku would one day have access to all of One For All’s previous users’ Quirks.

It's been a slow, drawn out process from when he first manifested Blackwhip to his current finesse with the rope-like Quirk, and he’s only recently unlocked Float in the heat of battle against the newly-powered up Shigarki Tomura. However, the anime seems to be teasing that Deku will be able to use yet another Quirk before the Paranormal Liberation War is over.

The first Quirk within One For All that Deku gained access to was Blackwhip. During an especially heated exchange with Neito Monoma of Class 1-B, the rope-like capture Quirk manifested as out of control tentacles that threatened to overwhelm Deku. After some practice with the fifth user’s Quirk, it’s become an incredibly useful tool for Deku, From binding opponents to swinging off buildings like Spider-Man, Blackwhip’s versatility is unmatched.

Before Float manifested, Deku trained with Uraraka Ochaco, Bakugo Katsuki, Sero Hanta, and All Might to acclimatize to the feeling of weightlessness Nana Shimura’s Quirk would give him. As a result, he avoided a disaster similar to Blackwhip’s first appearance, and was instantly able to integrate Float in his arsenal mid-battle. He used the Seventh’s Quirk in conjunction with Blackwhip to keep Shigaraki afloat in the sky, preventing him from triggering an unstoppable wave of destruction if he applied his Decay Quirk to the ground.

Unlike how the previous Quirks manifested, Deku has been able to subtly feel the effects of this new Quirk before he’s even realized what it is. As the battle for the future society continues to rage around him, Deku has suddenly begun receiving strange premonitions about events that happen shortly after. They’re usually accompanied by a flashy indicator that fans of the My Hero Academia manga will recognize instantly.

The lightning bolt imagery only appears in the manga when Deku’s Danger Sense Quirk is active. It originally belonged to Hikage Shinomori, the fourth user of One For All. This Quirk alerts Deku to any hostile intent directed at either him or any causes he’s passionate about protecting. He’s no soothsayer on Nighteye’s level, but it appears Danger Sense activates with just enough time for Deku to react or remove himself from harm’s way.

Danger Sense is not a Quirk Deku can use reliably yet. In fact, he doesn’t even seem to have realized that his uncanny prediction abilities are the result of a Quirk yet. Since One For All and the Quirks locked away within it strengthen in response to Deku’s emotions, it makes sense that they would activate in the middle of a battle for his life. Still, It’s a shame Danger Sense didn’t activate at least a few hours earlier; If it had, Deku might have been able to defend against Shigaraki more effectively.
