My Hero Academia imagines an incredible future where superpowered abilities called Quirks are commonplace, and thus, only the best of the best can rise to the top of the hero world and influence the course of the world. Without a doubt, the biggest name in the hero world is All Might, the symbol of peace. He is a hero of serious consequence.
In fact, it can be said that there was a world before All Might, and a world after him. All Might spent years fighting crime and inspiring hope among the people, and he also heavily impacted the personal and professional lives of many budding heroes around him. How did All Might play a role in the story of My Hero Academia?
10 All Might Prompted Sir Nighteye To Start An Agency
For a time, the pro hero Sir Nighteye was All Might's loyal sidekick, using his power of foresight and his affinity for paperwork to provide logistical support for the musclebound All Might. However, the two men had a falling out after All Might refused to retire in light of his serious injuries.
Thus, Sir Nighteye was left alone as All Might persisted elsewhere, prompting Sir Nighteye to launch his own hero agency, which employed Bubble Girl and Centipeder. This agency would eventually take in Izuku Midoriya as an intern.
9 All Might Held Evil At Bay For Years
This part of the story was implied instead of directly shown on screen. All Might isn't just a powerful melee fighter, he is a symbol of justice, hope, and the law. His mere existence was enough to hold villainy and criminals at bay.
All Might greatly suppressed crime with his reputation alone, and this ushered in an era of relative peace and prosperity where villains were little more than rats scurrying around in the dark. Even the powerful All For One couldn't easily make a move with All Might around.
8 All Might Inspired Koichi, AKA The Crawler
The My Hero Academia Vigilantes manga is 100% canon. That story, taking place a year or so before the main series, helped flesh out All Might a bit more. It told the story of a young man named Koichi who greatly adored All Might, but didn't have a strong enough Quirk to qualify for a heroics school such as U.A. or Shiketsu.
Still, Koichi was eager to follow All Might's example and became a friendly vigilante going by the name The Crawler. He was noted for often wearing official All Might hoodies. In fact, he diligently collected them. His friend Pop Step was rather amused.
7 All Might Forced All For One To Act Covertly Instead Of Openly
All Might scored a temporary victory against his arch-nemesis, All For One and suffered a grave injury in the process. Still, it wasn't for nothing. Until then, All For One had been acting in the open, trying to form a new world order with himself at the center. But All Might wouldn't allow that.
All For One was badly injured himself, and he didn't dare challenge All Might again so soon. Instead, he retreated to the shadows and became an underground boss, covertly recruiting new followers and awaiting his next opportunity to dominate society. For now, at least, All Might kept All For One off the world stage.
6 All Might Gave Izuku Midoriya One For All
This was one of the first things that happened in the My Hero Academia anime, and it made all the difference in the world. Izuku Midoriya was desperate to become a true hero like his idol, All Might, but he lacked a Quirk. So, All Might gave him one.
Izuku spent months training with All Might to become strong enough to wield the incredible One For All, and on one fateful day, Izuku was given that Quirk and all its power. Still, Izuku will need some training to master it.
5 All Might Also Inspired Katsuki Bakugo To Become The Best
Many characters such as Izuku and Koichi were determined to follow All Might's example, but there is also Katsuki Bakugo who, unlike them, was born with a powerful Quirk and a ferociously competitive attitude. More importantly, Bakugo shared Izuku's idolization of All Might.
Even as a young boy, Katsuki Bakugo could think only of All Might and how to become just like him. Now, the adolescent Bakugo is bitterly determined to become the new #1 hero and replace All Might at the top. He won't let anyone, not even Shoto Todoroki or Izuku Midoriya, get in his way. All Might is flattered... and a little concerned.
4 All Might Prompted The Creation Of The Powerful Nomu
The dreaded Nomu are lab-grown artificial humans who receive multiple Quirks from All For One himself. These monsters are designed to take on and defeat top-tier heroes with their multiple Quirks. Some of the strongest Nomu were designed primarily to take All Might down.
In a world without All Might, the League of Villains might not have felt the need to create such powerful Nomu, with the strongest of them no doubt engineered to take the symbol of peace down. Great heroes like All Might never fail to inspire villains who want to take them down.
3 All Might Unleashed A New Wave Of Bold Villainy
All Might had to face his arch-nemesis one more time when the League of Villains captured Katsuki Bakugo. Although All Might triumphed in the end, he exhausted the last of his power, and everyone knew it, even the criminals. The symbol of peace was gone, and the bulwark against evil was dissolved.
Thus, All Might allowed villainy and crime to experience a resurgence like never before, and countless criminals major and minor went wild in the streets. The insidious Overhaul, for example, might not have made his bold move if All Might were still in fighting shape.
2 All Might Helped Izuku Train One For All Via Gran Torino
Even All Might once needed a teacher, and the jet hero Gran Torino had taught him well. Years later, All Might sent his old mentor a letter explaining how Izuku now bore One For All, and this prompted Gran Torino to offer to train the boy.
Through All Might, Izuku got a chance to meet and train with Gran Torino, allowing Izuku to make rapid progress with One For All which he had been struggling with. All Might did the right thing, setting up this internship.
1 All Might Helped Katsuki Bakugo Form A Healthier Rivalry With Izuku
All Might totally changed Izuku's and Bakugo's lives by setting a great example for them, but the problem was that these two boys' rivalry became vicious and bitter, and they were about to stall out in their personal growth. Bakugo, especially, was venting his frustration in destructive ways, and he'd never surpass All Might like that.
Fortunately, right after a midnight scuffle between the two boys, All Might arrived and helped Izuku and Bakugo form a truce. He also explained the truth of One For All to Bakugo. Now, Izuku and Bakugo have a clearer and healthier rivalry, and they are back on track to becoming incredible heroes who may one day surpass their shared idol. It's a good thing that All Might has a way with words as well.
