If there's anything the ever-increasing popularity of comic-book characters in mass media has shown it is that a superhero is only as good as his or her villain. And in terms of fictional characters, there are few who have a more diverse and iconic band of villains (sometimes referred to as a rogue's gallery) as Spider-ManMysterio has never been as popular as some of Spider-Man's other villains such as Venom or Green Goblin who have had a massive on-screen presence for years.

But the character's popularity has reached new heights due to the MCU film Spider-Man: Far From Home in which he was the lead villain, not to mention played by a big name such as Jake Gyllenhaal. Thanks to this newfound popularity cosplayers have taken a liking to the character as well, and while some fantastic Mysterio cosplays have already been featured in a previous article, this one looks at some more of them.

10 An Illusionist In The Works

Spider-Man far from home Mysterio cosplay wearing motion capture suit with drone

One thing, among others, that sets Mysterio apart from the rest of Marvel villains is his absolute lack of any superpowers at all. He is dependent on the use of physical effects to create his superb illusions, but no matter how intense they might seem at the end of the day they are just illusions, and he's just an ordinary man.

The film portrays this in its own way, going as far as to show in a Quentin Beck in a motion capture suit and using drones to create his illusions, While most cosplays feature Mysterio in his superhero costume, cosplayer swagatron42069 has decided to take a different route and the drone is certainly a nice touch.

9 Fishbowl Femme Fatale

Fishbowl Mysterio

As ridiculous as it may look, Mysterio's fishbowl helmet is an important and iconic part of his costume, and not something all cosplayers can pull off easily. It definitely looks like an uncomfortable element of the outfit, at least in realistic terms, not to mention dangerous for the wearer too as it probably obstructs sight as well.

The lights on futuristik.cosplay's body and neck mix well with the rest of the well-crafted ensemble. Although the cloudy aesthetic of the fishbowl looks good, it is anybody's guess what the cosplayer is going through inside the helmet.

8 A Perfect Replication

When it comes to cosplay, there is no set in stone rule that stays that it has to be an absolute duplicate of the source material on which it is based. As long as the people involved are having fun, everything goes as that is the very essence of cosplaying.

But all said and done, it is hard not to be amazed when a single person (or group of people) manages to perfectly reproduce a costume from a multi-million dollar production. Cosplayer kawaiimayhem has managed to do exactly that and the final product is virtually as incredible as the suit from the movie.

7 A Little Bit Of CGI

isber_cosplay

At first glance, the thing that jumps out the most about this cosplay is the heavy use of special effects to portray Mysterio's signature green aesthetic. While many cosplayers prefer to use only hand-made (or otherwise) practical props, many will often use CGI to spice up their precious cosplay pictures.

But even excluding the digital effects, it is a fantastic costume and the fishbowl and armor seem to be very well-made as well, as well as the cosplay by isber_copslay.

6 Pumpkin King

Combine the mystery of the spooky month of October and a Marvel supervillain and the end result is a Halloween-themed Mysterio cosplay by dt_outlander.

The suit seems to have been modified to a great extent, especially in the top section where the cosplayer seems to be wearing a secondary helmet inside the fishbowl. Love the cosplay or hate it, it cannot be denied that the use of pumpkins as props is one of the best things about this image.

5 A Classic Outlook

nightospherecosplay

Mysterio's wacky and definitive costume from the comics might not be Hollywood material, but it is certainly suitable for the comic pages and cosplays. The yellow gauntlets and boots could not be more spot-on, and the main body is as close to a real-life Mysterio suit as one can expect in this cosplay by nightospherecosplay.

It cannot be said for sure whether the smokey effect was added post-production or during taking the picture, but it provides a nice aura to the overall image.

4 Master Of The Mystic Arts?

Green is the "theme color" of many heroes and villains, and the way Mysterio carries it around him looks very visually similar to a certain Sorcerer Supreme. Not only do they have matching shades, but both the movie version of Doctor Strange and Mysterio sport magical hand chakra thingies at times.

The cosplay wonderfully holds up the mystical and magical nature of Mysterio's look, and although in reality, Mysterio might be faking his powers it does make for a nice photo-op in this cosplay by cossneg.

3 Earth's Mightiest

anythinggoescosplay

Why only do a Mysterio cosplay when you can get together with other people and practically assemble the whole Avengers lineup? Although it certainly is unusual to see Mysterio hang out with the likes of Iron Man and Black Widow, as he is a straight-up villain, not even an anti-hero.

It could be seen as the sheer power of cosplay that has brought villains and heroes together in the search of the perfect picture pose by anythinggoescosplay.

2 Caped Crusader

_taker_cosplay

Capes and superheroes/supervillains are synonymous concepts. Not all of them wear one, but it's a chief component of the costume of those characters who do choose to and in some cases, the capes are not just there for the sake of it but even have powers of their own.

While capes are not entirely ignored by cosplayers, not many would think of putting as much effort into them as _taker_ has. The cape can only be described as simply majestic, and splendidly completes the entire outfit.

1 The Quintessential Quentin

best_marvel_cosplays

Mysterio's classic costume from the comics is simply, in a word, goofy. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, considering goofiness is a common feature when it comes to superhero costumes.

While it works in the pages of a comic book, it would look ridiculous in a movie. But in the world of cosplay, anything goes, and this cosplayer has taken full advantage of that to don an immensely faithfully recreation of the iconic Mysterio suit. The highlighted muscles really bring it to life in this cosplay by best_marvel_cosplays.
