Netflix dropped the first trailer for its upcoming sequel, Murder Mystery 2, starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler.

Directed by Jeremy Garelick and written by James Vanderbilt, Aniston and Sandler reprise their respective roles as Audrey and Nick Spitz for an explosive sequel to 2019's Murder Mystery. The trailer pits them against a menacing detective played by Mark Strong and sees them travel to Paris to solve the kidnapping of their friend, the Maharaja, played by Adeel Akhtar. Murder Mystery 2 is set to release on Netflix on March 31, 2023.

Murder Mystery 2 takes place four years after Nick and Audrey Spitz solved their first mystery. The couple is now full-time detectives with their own private investigation agency when they're invited to a wedding on the Maharaja's private island. Along with Sandler and Aniston, Murder Mystery 2 stars Strong, Akhtar, Mélanie Laurent, Jodie Turner-Smith, John Kani, Kuhoo Verma, Enrique Arce, Zurin Villanueva, Tony Goldwyn, Annie Mumolo and Dany Boon.

The Spitzes Head to Paris in Murder Mystery 2

Per Murder Mystery 2's official synopsis, "[...] trouble follows the Spitzes again when the groom is kidnapped for ransom soon after the festivities begin — making each glamorous guest, family member, and the bride herself a suspect. Murder Mystery 2 sends Nick and Audrey Spitz on a high-stakes case that finally gives them everything they’ve ever dreamed of: a shot at their detective agency finally becoming successful…and their long-awaited trip to Paris."

Murder Mystery 2 is produced by Sandler and Aniston as well, along with Tripp Vinson, James D. Stern, James Vanderbilt, A.J. Dix and Allen Covert. The sequel is executive produced by Barry Bernardi, Kevin Grady, Julie Goldstein, Lucas Smith, Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, Tim Herlihy and Kyle Newacheck.

In January 2020, Sandler agreed to expand his existing deal with Netflix for another four movies after producing films like The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, Father of the Year, The Week Of and Murder Mystery. 2019's Murder Mystery was Netflix's most popular title of that year. Sandler also worked on Netflix films such as The Wrong Missy and Hubie Halloween, both of which were released in 2020. His latest film for Netflix, Hustle, premiered on the streaming service in June 2022.

Murder Mystery 2 premieres on Netflix on March 31, 2023.
