It's time to play the music -- The Muppet Show is finally coming to Disney+.

Jim Henson's classic variety comedy series will begin streaming Friday, Feb. 19 exclusively on Disney+. Along with the first three seasons, viewers will be able to stream Seasons 4 and 5 of The Muppet Show, which have never been previously made available for viewing on the home entertainment market.

The Muppet Show host Kermit the Frog released an official statement, saying, "It's going to be great to welcome back longtime fans, and to give a new generation of fans a chance to see how we got our start, how Miss Piggy became a star and so much more. Today, I'm proud to say: 'It's time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!' And as for Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony, I can only add: 'Sorry, guys, but... here we go again.'"

Created by Henson, The Muppet Show premiered in 1976 and featured a mix of comedy sketches, original songs and guest stars with classic Muppet characters like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, the Swedish Chef, Sam the Eagle and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Among the actors who guest-starred on the series were Mark Hamill, Steve Martin, Elton John, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett and Liza Minnelli.

Since buying the Muppets brand in 2004, Disney has released a pair of theatrical Muppet features, including the Oscar-winning 2011 film The Muppets. However, after 2014's Muppets Most Wanted disappointed at the box office, the Mouse House shifted its focus to producing Muppet content for other platforms, particularly YouTube and TV.

In 2015, ABC debuted The Muppets, a mockumentary-style series about the personal lives of The Muppets during the production of a late-night talk show hosted by Miss Piggy. The series earned mixed to positive reviews and was criticized by organizations like One Million Moms for being too adult in terms of its comedy and subject matter. It was canceled after a single season.

After that, Josh Gad, Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis developed Muppets Live Another Day, a sequel series to The Muppets Take Manhattan that was meant to stream on Disney+ but was canceled during pre-production in 2019. More recently, Disney+ premiered Muppets Now, a short-form comedy series composed of multiple segments featuring classic Muppet characters, along with new additions like Joe the Legal Weasel.

The Muppet Show streams on Disney+ beginning Friday, Feb. 19.
