The upcoming epic fantasy Mulan will be unlike any of Disney's previous live-action remakes, as the film will be the first to receive a PG-13 rating from the MPAA.According to the "Exhibitor Relations Co. 2: Box Office Boogaloo" Twitter account, the Mulan PG-13 rating is due to "sequences of violence."RELATED: Mulan Does the Impossible in New TV Spot

Based on the trailers and TV spots for Mulan, the film will showcase plenty of battle scenes, hand-to-hand combat and sword fights, making the PG-13 rating understandable. However, the rating hasn't been officially confirmed by Disney, though it is being corroborated by various outlets.

Mulan's PG-13 rating would certainly be something different for Disney, as most of the studio's live-action remakes have received G-ratings with some, including 2010's Alice in Wonderland and 2019's Dumbo, receiving a PG-rating.

Mulan is based on the popular animated film of the same name from 1998. The animated film told the story of a young Chinese woman named Mulan, who posed as a man in order to take her father's place in a war with the Huns.

While both the animated and live-action versions look to share many similarities, several differences have been mentioned, including that the live-action film won't feature any musical numbers. The film will also feature a brand new villain named Xian Lang.
