During the course of Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures, SF-R3, a.k.a. Aree, travels the galaxy meeting some of the Star Wars franchise's most memorable creatures. Aree focuses on friendly and dangerous creatures, from Porgs to the Nexu, to answer questions that viewers might have about each species. While the series is lighthearted, Aree and his research also encourage the viewer to treat the natural world and the creatures within it with respect, no matter how friendly or scary those creatures might be.

While the creatures featured in the microseries' first season are all excellent choices, there are still many creatures in the galaxy for Aree to study if the show is renewed for more seasons. Let's explore some of the best options for subjects for future episodes of Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures.

The High Republic's Cru Makes an Excellent Companion and Protector

Cham Cham the cru flies to Zeen Mrala who is looking offscreen in Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures.

Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures already featured one High Republic creature, the Charhound, and the show could continue to spotlight other new creatures from the subseries in future seasons. A strong choice for the microseries' next High Republic species could be the cru. Cru are friendly, batlike creatures that can be fierce when threatened. In Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures, Zeen Mrala, a force sensitive teen, is accompanied by a cru named Cham Cham. He is beloved by all of the Padawans and Younglings of the Starlight Beacon, and has shown his prowess in battle as well. For example, Cham Cham ate the arm and some fingers of a Nihil soldier when threatened, which shows that cru, while friend shaped, do eat meat and specifically will eat their enemies. However, they get sleepy after eating, which minimizes their threat. Due to the cru's combination of friendliness and menace, they would function both as a creature of study for Aree in Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures and as a cuddly toy in the microseries' toy line.

Varactyls Could Tie In with the Prequel Trilogy

Obi-Wan Kenobi rides Boga the Varactyl in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith

Varactyls are a mixture of reptiles and birds, similar to dinosaurs, and they also are particularly agile. Varactyls are able to leap large vertical and horizontal distances and are adept at surviving long drops, a necessary adaptation for their homeworld. In Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, a varactyl named Boga was instrumental in helping Obi-Wan Kenobi ambush General Grievous and ultimately defeat him. For Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures, varactyls could be another friendly species for Aree to interact with. Since Aree already focused on learning to ride tauntauns in the episode of the same name, a varactyl episode could instead focus on how their reptilian and avian characteristics help them survive on Utapu.

The Ordo Moon Dragon Could Provide an Interesting Challenge for Aree

Omega shines her flashlight on an Ordo Moon Dragon in Star Wars The Bad Batch

Ordo Moon Dragons, aptly named due to their home on the moon of Ordo, are creatures that feed upon energy. Aree already has dealt with energy-eating creatures in the "Mynocks" episode of Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures. However, the Ordo Moon Dragon could provide an interesting variation on this dilemma in the show. When Aree encountered the mynocks, they nearly destroyed him and his ship in their attempts to devour all of the electricity on board, but Cam the camera droid's quick thinking saved Aree. The Ordo Moon Dragon might actually pose less of a threat. In "Replacements," the third episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an Ordo Moon Dragon steals a capacitor from Clone Force 99 to eat as a snack. While Omega is terrified of the dragon at first, she realizes that the dragon is only hungry. She exchanges her flashlight for the capacitor, enabling the team to repair the Havoc Marauder and leave. Thus, while both the Ordo Moon Dragon and the mynocks feed on electricity, the Ordo Moon Dragon might be an easier subject of study for Aree in the future.

A Focus on the Sarlacc Could Tie in with The Book of Boba Fett

The Great Pit of Carkoon surrounded by the desert sands of Tattoine's Dune Sea.

The Sarlacc is one of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi's most iconic creatures. Sarlaccs appear to be giant, gaping maws with beaks. While some Sarlaccs grow as large as the one found in the Great Pit of Carkoon on Tatooine, there are smaller versions of the Sarlacc as well. Jabba the Hutt used the Sarlacc as an execution method for people who particularly displeased him; however, his decision to feed Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca to the Sarlacc ultimately led to his own doom. Famously, Boba Fett fell into the Sarlacc pit during the battle and was presumed dead. In Star Wars: Legends canon there are multiple explanations for how Boba escaped the Sarlacc, but the current canon universe has not explained his survival yet. Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett may provide an explanation, and an episode of Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures focusing on the Sarlacc could also tie in with Boba's survival.

The Mudhorn Holds Important Meaning for the Mandalorian and Grogu

Din Djarin watches as Grogu lifts the mudhorn telekinetically with the Force.

Mudhorns are large creatures similar to rhinoceros, with a large eponymous horn in the middle of their face. In "Chapter Two: The Child" of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Jawas task Din Djarin with retrieving a Mudhorn egg in exchange for the parts of his ship that the Jawas stole. The mudhorn proves to be fiercely protective of her egg, but Din eventually defeats her with Grogu's help. Grogu's use of the Force to levitate the mudhorn is his first use of his Force abilities in the series. Later, the Armorer, the leader of the Children of the Watch that raised Din, designates both Din and Grogu as founding members of Clan Mudhorn. Thus, the mudhorn holds symbolic meaning for both Din and Grogu and represents their familial bond. This means an episode on the Mudhorn in Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures could subtextually connect the show to Din and Grogu, especially if a new season of the microseries releases close to the third season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Galaxy of Creatures Could Show a Different Side of Rathtars

The Rathtar freely roams the ship

When the rathtar first appears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the creature seems like it mainly consists of tentacles, teeth and murder. Han Solo and Chewbacca captured the creatures, but Han lost most of his crew in the process. When released, the rathtars wreak havoc and devour multiple members of the Kanjiklub and Guavian Death Gang. While rathtars might seem like they would be too dangerous for Aree to study on Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures, he has encountered multiple predators before. From wampas to nexu, the show provides a more sympathetic portrayal of carnivores in a galaxy far, far away, showing that even dangerous creatures deserve care and respect. The microseries could provide a similar portrayal of the rathtars and allow viewers to learn more about the creatures beyond their hunger and their menace.
