MTV begins the countdown to the second season of "Scream" with a creepy promo depicting shadowy footage of the cast, punctuated by flashes of each character donning the horror series' signature mask. While the teaser ends with the words "Trust Nothing ... Trust Us," it might be better served by an "X-Files" slogan: "Trust No One."

Based on the hit film franchise created by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven, the series kicked off its first season with a brutal murder that resurrects memories of a crime spree from Lakewood's secret past that may have spawned a new killer. The second season will focus on the search for the identity of the killer's partner.

Initially announced to premiere May 31, "Scream's" second season will instead begin on May 30.
