MTV has decided it wants in on this werewolf-heartthrob thing, granting a series order to Teen Wolf.

Based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox comedy, which spawned an animated series and a movie sequel, Teen Wolf stars Tyler Posey (Lincoln Heights) as Scott McCall, a dorky adolescent who gains supernatural powers after being attacked by a wolf. Apparently, the lycanthrope repertoire includes the ability to attract young women.

The series promises to be both a drama and buddy-comedy, with Dylan O'Brien (Sweety High) playing his skeptical best friend Stiles (Jerry Levine's role in the original movie). Crystal Reed (Skyline) is Allison, the new girl who falls for Scott, while Tyler Hoechlin (7th Heaven) is Derek, the local bad werewolf.

Russell Mulcahy (Resident Evil: Extinction) directed the pilot, written by Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis, who also serves as executive producer.
