When you think of MTV, you think of horror, right...? Well, maybe you should. With the announcement of Death Valley, the former Music Television network is staking out its interest in the genre.

Death Valley, one of two new scripted shows announced by the network yesterday (The other, That Girl, follows a teen girl after an attempted suicide), is said to be a mock-documentary centering around a special police task force in San Fernando set up specifically to battle monsters, instead of crime. The network's Tony DiBari, senior vp production, called the show "the perfect combination of horror and comedy, two genres we know our audience responds to," with scripted development EVP David Janollari adding that the network is very interested in doing more with horror: "When done right, it’s the kind of genre that both boys and girls come together to watch."
