Magic: The Gathering has revealed several new cat and demon cards, alongside a slew of reprints for its upcoming Jumpstart 2022.

Wizards of the Coast unveiled three new Jumpstart 2022 cards and a list of reprints for the cat and demon theme packs. Ingenious Leonin is up first, a White five-cost 4/4 with an activated ability that makes attacking cats stronger. Next is Conductor of Cacophony, a Black four-cost that can damage the whole board at the expense of weakening itself, much like Crypt Rats. Finally, there's Infernal Idol, a three-cost artifact that taps for black mana or can get sacrificed to draw two cards at the cost of two Life and three Mana.

The Cat Packs Include Notable Cards

The cat theme packs will feature at least 23 reprinted cards ranging from Mythic to Common. At the top of the rarity is the fan-beloved and recently compleated Ajani, Strength of the Pride. The token-generating Leonin Warleader is the first Rare, followed by the Landfall-based cards Trove Warden and Felidar Retreat, then the cat-buffing Regal Caracal. Other notable cards include King of the Pride, a powerful and low-cost cat tribal piece, and the classic Lifegain staple Ajani's Pridemate.

The Demon Packs Include Rares

The demon theme packs will bring back 16 reprinted cards, though none exceed Rare in quality. First up is the Legendary Kothophed, Soul Hoarder, the demon responsible for Liliana's eternal youth and swirling tattoos. Seizan, Perverter of Truth, another Legendary, finishes out the rares alongside the low-cost, high-stats Demon of Catastrophe. Notably, less than half of the revealed cards are actually demons, with most simply being related thematically. A few noticeable cards are Disciple of Perdition, a warlock that encourages a player to lower their Life to 13, the classic Diabolic Edict and the fearsome Renegade Demon.

Jumpstart First Released in 2020

Jumpstart 2022 will release with 46 unique themes with multiple possible collations with variable numbers of cards. Some reprints will also feature new art, including unique "Anime-style" art, though Wizards has yet to reveal any further information. Jumpstart is a fast-paced game mode that lets players skip the deckbuilding phase and get straight to the action. Users can shuffle any two theme packs into a ready-to-play 40-card deck roughly equivalent to any other combination. The first Jumpstart released in 2020 and also featured 46 different themes composed mostly of reprints.

Jumpstart 2022 releases on Dec. 2 of the same year and will feature 46 unique themes.
