Ms. Marvel writer Fatimah Asghar wants Kamala Khan to team up with the X-Men's Wolverine at some point in the future.

In an interview with The Direct, Asghar, who wrote Ms. Marvel's fifth episode, said that she loves the X-Men and that they were one of her initial entry points into comics. She noted, "And I think about like, just thinking about Kamala alongside different X-Men, and it would be really funny."

The writer then said that she'd specifically like to see Khan team up with Wolverine, saying it would be really cool to see that. She also likes the idea of contrasting Wolverine's "jaded and annoyed" energy with her more fangirlish leanings. "It's such a great kind of moment of synastry," she explained.

Wait, Ms. Marvel Is a Mutant?

Released earlier this year, Ms. Marvel introduced Khan to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While there were some changes made to Khan's powers, the Season 1 finale hid one of the show's biggest changes. In the comics, Khan gets her powers after being exposed to the Terrigen Mists, making her an Inhuman. However, Ms. Marvel confirmed that she was instead the MCU's first official mutant, and even featured a riff on the theme song for X-Men: The Animated Series during the reveal.

It is not clear at this time just what Khan being a mutant means for the character of the MCU on the whole. At this time, Khan is expected to next return in The Marvels, which is slated for July 28, 2023. That film, which is directed by Nia DaCosta from a script by Megan McDonnell, sees Khan teaming up with Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). The end of Ms. Marvel featured a brief tease for the film, with Captain Marvel and Khan swapping places.

Will Ms. Marvel Return for Season 2?

Despite Ms. Marvel receiving critical acclaim, cinematographer Jules O'Loughlin revealed earlier this week that there hasn't yet been any talk of the show returning for a second season. Still, Marvel Studios often keeps such announcements close to its chest. For example, a video recently indicated the company was working on Moon Knight Season 2, despite the project having not yet been officially announced and there being some indication the show would not return.
