It was announced last year that fan-favorite Marvel hero Kamala Khan, the current bearer of the Ms. Marvel mantle, would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in her own Disney+ series alongside fellow Marvel characters Moon Knight and She-Hulk. While not much is known about the show, its working title may confirm where the neophyte superhero's adventures take place in the MCU.

According to Production Weekly, the working title for the series was revealed as "Jersey," an appropriate title and possible setting for the series as Kamala is a New Jersey native in the comics, having been born in Jersey City.

Created by writer G. Willow Wilson, artists Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie, and editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, Kamala is a teenage Pakistani American girl whose Inhuman abilities were activated when she was exposed to a cloud of Terrigen Mist. Her Inhuman DNA endows her with shapeshifting abilities and a healing factor.

Inspired by her idol Carol Danvers, the current Captain Marvel and the original Ms. Marvel, Kamala took up the Ms. Marvel identity for herself and became a superhero. The character received a positive reception from comic book fans and mainstream media, and has since made the leap outside of comics, including appearances on the animated Marvel Rising franchise and the Avengers Assemble animated series.

Ms. Marvel is tentatively scheduled to debut on Disney+ sometime in 2021.
