Within G. Willow Wilson's Ms. Marvel, Kamala is an avid fanfiction writer, known as "SlothBaby."

Khan made her comic debut in 2013's Captain Marvel #14, becoming Marvel's first Muslim character to star in her own title. Before discovering her own powers, Kamala was inspired by Captain Marvel and dedicated a lot of her writing to celebrate her heroic efforts.

Khan's individual series, Ms. Marvel, was created by writer G. Willow Wilson, artists Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie, and editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker. Ms. Marvel follows the adventures of Kamala, a teenage Pakistani American girl with Inhuman DNA. After stepping into a cloud of Terrigen Mist, her powers were activated, endowing her with shapeshifting abilities and a healing factor, leading her to assume the Ms. Marvel title.
