Ms. Marvel finally has an official release window after being pushed back by Disney+.

During the flurry of Disney+ Day announcements, the streaming service announced that Ms. Marvel will arrive next summer. All other upcoming Disney+ Marvel shows were only said to be "coming soon," so it's not clear if Kamala Khan's debut will actually be the first MCU series to arrive in 2022.

While Ms. Marvel was originally scheduled to arrive this fall at an unspecified date, Disney quietly pushed back its release date, leading many to assume it would drop early in 2023. Ahead of Disney+ Day, a 2022 Q4 release window was announced for the Marvel series along with Andor during Disney's Q4 earnings call for 2021, though it's now clear that Ms. Marvel will arrive earlier than that.

Ms. Marvel was first announced at the D23 expo in 2019 alongside the reveal of Moon Knight and She-Hulk. Later in the year, news that the character would pop up in the Captain Marvel sequel also emerged. By September 2020, newcomer Imon Vellani was officially cast in the lead role. And in December, Marvel Studios unveiled the first look at Ms. Marvel, showing just how much of the show has already been filmed.

The series wrapped filming in May of this year, but fans have eagerly been awaiting a proper look at the superhero in costume. While concept art and set photos have offered a tease of Kamala in her suit, nothing official has been released before today.

Fans have been curious about more than Kamala's suit, however. Shortly after the show was announced, co-creator G. Willow Wilson revealed she was worried about Kamala's size-changing and stretching abilities being realized on screen. "She’s got very comic book-y powers," Wilson said at the time. "God bless them trying to bring that to live-action; I don’t know how that’s going to work out in a way that doesn’t look really creepy."

Since then, various merch leaks have shown Kamala's hand encased in a sort of purple crystal, teasing new powers for Ms. Marvel. Another recent reveal also named Kamala's strange ability, leaving many fans to wonder if her comic book powers would be changed for the MCU.

While many hoped to see a full trailer reveal at Disney+ Day, the release date window will have to suffice. Ms. Marvel hits Disney+ in summer 2022.
