Wolverine, Venom, Moon Knight and more Marvel Universe characters will all join Ms. Marvel in a new series that launches in July.
Marvel announced that Ms. Marvel, also known as Kamala Khan, will fight alongside a number of Marvel heroes and anti-heroes in a new series of oversized one-shots from writer Jody Houser. The series kicks off with Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 by Houser and artist Zé Carlos. The cover art for the issue shows Cyclops/Scott Summers, Marvel Girl/Jean Grey, Storm/Ororo Munroe and more also accompanying the teenage superhero into battle. The Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 synopsis reads, "When a mysterious threat lands in New York City, Ms. Marvel takes matters into her own embiggened hands! But with Krakoan security/tech compromised, you can bet Wolverine and the X-Men won't be far behind! The best there is at what he does teams up with one of the Marvel Universe's most lauded heroes in an action-packed adventure for the ages!"
According to Marvel, the new series will be a jumping-on point for Ms. Marvel newcomers, as the new saga will lay the groundwork for the character's next era. "I'm thrilled to be back playing in the Marvel superhero sandbox, especially with a character as vital as Ms. Marvel," Houser said of the announcement. "Teaming her up with some of the darker heroes of the 616 shows just how bright her light really is." Editor Mark Basso added, "Ms. Marvel is such a powerful and versatile member of the MU, and putting her in a huge scale adventure shoulder to shoulder with harder-edged heroes like Venom, Moon Knight, and Wolverine is going to maybe surprise some readers with her range. If you missed her earlier adventures, know this: Kamala Khan is a super hero. Full stop. And when you get her in the mix with a crew like this, you know something BIG is going down."
The series of one-shots begins shortly after Khan makes her live-action debut in the new Disney+ Ms. Marvel series. The character is being played by Iman Vellani, who will also appear in 2023's The Marvels, and begins airing on June 8. Wolverine/Logan, Moon Knight/Marc Spector and Venom/Eddie Brock have all appeared in their own live-action adaptations and have been played respectively by Hugh Jackman, Oscar Isaac and Tom Hardy.
Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 comes from Houser and Carlos, with cover art by Sara Pichelli and variant cover art by Mahmud Asrar and Peach Momoko. The issue goes on sale July 13 from Marvel.
