The Season 1 finale of Ms. Marvel promised that Kamala Khan would return as the titular hero in the upcoming film, The Marvels, which is set to star Iman Vellani as Kamala, Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau/Photon. With regards to Season 2 of Ms. Marvel, at the recent D23 Expo, Vellani stated that "[Marvel doesn't] tell me anything so you're not gonna hear anything" when asked about Season 2. Similarly, cinematographer Jules O'Loughlin stated in August that "there hasn't been any talk of a season two" for the Disney+ series. O'Loughlin served as the cinematographer on two episodes of Ms. Marvel: "Seeing Red" and "Time and Again."

Ms. Marvel's Season 2 Potential

In a previous interview, Ms. Marvel head writer Bisha K. Ali discussed how The Marvels had impacted the production and writing of Ms. Marvel, including whether or not there would be future seasons. "I didn't know what was going to happen in that movie because they rightfully didn't tell me 'cause I'm a little chatterbox. But I knew that's what we were building to," Ali said. "That she had to be [ready] by the end of our show to go and do whatever it is that's going to happen in The Marvels. And what her future in the MCU after that, you know, we're a few years out, I'm old. I might have retired by then, who knows. Who knows what's gonna happen if there's a Season 2 or not."

Co-created by editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, writer G. Willow Wilson and artists Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie, Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan made her Marvel Comics debut in 2012. According to Amanat, Ms. Marvel was intended to be every bit as quirky and colorful as the original comics, intermixing animation and live-action as a way to give life to the fantasies of its protagonist, Kamala. Starring Vellani, the Disney+ series, like the comics, followed the Pakistani-American teen as the titular hero, who was Marvel's first Muslim character to star in her own series and is the MCU's first onscreen Muslim hero.

"The fact that the show is being made and they’re including this character in the MCU is [what’s important]," Vellani said about her character shortly after her casting was announced. "I don’t really have to go out of my way and talk about being a Muslim and being Pakistani — it all comes out in the show. People seeing a person like me involved in a project as big as this is, I think, inspiring enough."

Season 1 of Ms. Marvel is available to stream in full on Disney+.
