How Is Ms. Marvel Different From Her Comic Origin?

Ms Marvel Kamala Khan Cover

As a super fan of Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan takes on Carol Danvers' old codename as Ms. Marvel. As a fan-favorite comic book character, fans are familiar with Kamala's Inhuman lineage and her born abilities that were later activated by the Terrigen Mists to allow her to share mass with different versions of herself. She can alter her physical shape in any way imaginable. As Kamala engages with her abilities, she's essentially time-traveling.

In the official trailer released via Disney+, Kamala "embiggens" her fist into purple crystals and channels a shield that resembles Doctor Strange's Tao Madalas, indicating that Ms. Marvel's superpower is more energy-based. Kamala also appears to obtain superpower through a pair of crystal bangles.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, theoretical physicist Clifford Johnson confirmed his involvement in the upcoming Ms. Marvel series and The Flash movie. Viewers may be familiar with his work in the Infinity Saga, Loki and Palm Springs, all tackling time travel in one way or another. His involvement will likely mean that Ms. Marvel will engage Kamala's new energy-based superpower with time-travel plots.
