The Red Dagger arrives in a new official promo for Marvel Studios' next Disney+ original series, Ms. Marvel.

The promo, titled "Not Alone," finds series protagonist Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) in a dark, ominously-lit hallway, looking visibly shaken up. Coming to her defense is Kareem (Aramis Knight), better known as the vigilante Red Dagger. While fans previously saw Knight's Red Dagger in a piece of stylized promotional art, this marks the first live-action glimpse at the character.

Using a red bandana to mask his identity, Red Dagger is an expert marksman who utilizes throwing knives as his weapon of choice. Created by G. Willow Wilson and Mirka Andolfo, the character first appeared in 2016's Ms. Marvel #12. He became a mainstay of the series from issue #23 to issue #30. Most recently, Kareem/Red Dagger was featured in the 2021 one-shot Marvel's Voices: Identity, which spotlights the House of Ideas' Asian superheroes.

Set to premiere on Wednesday, June 8, Ms. Marvel is Marvel Studios' sixth live-action Disney+ original series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye and the recently-concluded Moon Knight. It is also Marvel Studios' seventh Disney+ series overall, counting the animated anthology series What If...?.

Ms. Marvel centers on Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American teenager who idolizes the superhero Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (played in the MCU by Brie Larson) before gaining superpowers of her very own. Following the upcoming series, Vellani will reprise her role as Ms. Marvel opposite Larson's Captain Marvel in the feature film The Marvels, which is currently scheduled for release on July 28, 2023.

The two will also be joined in the film by Teyonah Parris, who reprises her role as Monica Rambeau from 2021's WandaVison. A younger version of the character was previously played by Akira and Azari Akbar in the 2019 film Captain Marvel, which also introduced Larson's Carol Danvers to the MCU. Monica Rambeau once carried the mantle of Captain Marvel in the original Marvel comic books, though has also been known as Photon, Pulsar and Spectrum.
