The following article contains minor spoilers for Ms. Marvel Season 1, Episode 2, "Crushed," which premiered Wednesday, June 15, on Disney+.

Marvel fans are freaking out online after a line of dialogue from Ms. Marvel's second episode seemingly hinted that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Kamala Khan might still be an Inhuman after all.

In Episode 2 of Ms. Marvel, titled "Crushed," Kamala's best friend Bruno Carrelli, played by Matt Lintz, revealed to the burgeoning superhero that her powers might not be coming from the ancient bangle she found in her family's attic in Episode 1. "So it looks like your power isn't coming from the bangle," Bruno said after running some tests on the family heirloom. "It's coming from within you. Like the bangle unlocked the superhuman part of you." Kamala Khan is a member of the Inhumans in the comics and received her superhero powers after being exposed to the Terrigen Mists, which activated her dormant Inhuman abilities.

The MCU's Kamala Khan having different powers from her comic counterpart was initially revealed in the first trailer for Ms. Marvel back in March. While Kamala Khan's powers in the comics consist of stretching, shrinking and growing, the trailer showed the young hero shooting purple cosmic energy beams and forming shields. Some fans assumed Marvel Studios changing Kamala's powers represented the company's continued lack of interest in the Inhumans property, which had previously led to both a canceled film and a failed 2017 ABC series.

Marvel Studios properly introduced the Inhumans into the MCU when Anson Mount reprised his role as Inhuman leader Black Bolt in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Mount played the Earth-838 variant of Black Bolt, who was a member of that universe's Illuminati team. "Getting the call from [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige was one of the most unexpected of my life," Mount wrote on Twitter shortly after the film's release, adding that he was "Beyond grateful for the experience." Mount's appearance in the film led to a renewed interest from fans in both Black Bolt and the Inhumans property.

Iman Vellani leads Ms. Marvel as Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American high school student who dreams of one day fighting alongside the Avengers, especially her idol Captain Marvel. The first episode saw her dreams come true when the ancient heirloom she wore to New Jersey's AvengerCon allowed her to wield cosmic energy and make powerful constructs. The MCU series also stars Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, Laurel Marsden and Arian Moayed.

The first two episodes of Ms. Marvel are now streaming on Disney+ with new episodes arriving every Wednesday until July 13.
