Since the release of Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix, many fans have been introduced to Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel. Kamala is known for her status as a major fan of The Avengers and other superheroes, an aspect that is highlighted in the game. However, as big of a fan of Iron Man and Captain America as she is, in her short time as Ms. Marvel she's actually decided to quit the Avengers during one of their most tumultuous times.

Following the universe reset that came at the end of Secret Wars, Ms. Marvel found herself as a member of the All-New, All-Different Avengers. This team featured many successors to other Marvel heroes, such as Sam Wilson wielding the shield of Captain America and Jane Foster holding Mjolnir as the new Thor. Along with Nova and Miles Morales, Ms. Marvel saw her membership as an exciting opportunity to grow and develop her skills as a hero. At the same time, Kamala also built her relationship with Carol Danvers, who was her favorite hero and idol.

Ms Marvel calls Captain Marvel a phony

When the superhuman community was introduced to an Inhuman by the name of Ulysses Cain, his ability to witness the future divided heroes on how best to use his powers and whether they should even trust his visions. While some predictions allowed the heroes to prevent disasters, such as the return of Thanos, other insights only divided the community, such as when he foresaw the return of the Hulk and the death of everyone, something that could still hold to be true. As more possible futures were revealed, Captain Marvel and Iron Man led their sides on how one should handle the future, resulting in Civil War II.

At the start of the event, Kamala stayed close with her mentor, as Captain Marvel entrusted her with a team to handle crime prevention. But Ms. Marvel faced a tough choice when one of her friends was accused of planning to bomb her school. Seeing how this new form of justice could be misused, Ms. Marvel fought against one of her team members that ended with Captain Marvel interrupting their battle. After the situation was resolved, Ms. Marvel had parted ways with her mentor and had lost the trust of her long-time friend, Bruno. She would later join Iron Man’s side when it was predicted that Captain America would die at the hands of Miles Morales.

While the events of Civil War II led both Nova and Miles to quit the Avengers after being forced to fight fellow heroes, Ms. Marvel remained a member of the team until the events of Champions #1, from Mark Waid, Humberto Ramos, and Victor Olazaba. Following a battle with the Wrecking Crew, Kamala was outraged when the Avengers were unwilling to fix the destroyed railroad and food truck that had been left in the result of their battle. Although they saved lives, Kamala felt the Avengers no longer cared about the damage left in their wake. With this, she knew that she and the other heroes had to create their own path.

After leaving the Avengers, Kamala formed The Champions with the likes of Spider-Man (Miles Morales) and Nova. They would go on to recruit Viv Vision, Amadeus Cho, and the time-displaced young Cyclops to fill their ranks. Eventually, Kamala would cement her place as leader of the Champions and the team would go on to include teen heroes from around the world that actively sought to change it and improve the lives of others, besides just saving the day from the latest supervillain and getting involved in every superhero event.
